This review is coming from a customer who is about 5'5" and is probably on the heavier side as practicing yogis go. Age falls in the 20s. I do a lot with Shiva Rea videos (Fluid Power, Yoga Shakti, Daily Energy, Yogini). I also have Ravi/Ana yoga videos, but I have only done Shiva Rea videos with this product so far. This is a great mat. I appreciate that it is both long and 1/4" thick. Overall, I am not that tall, but proportionally have very long legs. I don't like my feet or head to dangle off mats. On standard ones I am constantly watching to see where I land, and get distracted when doing wide standing poses. This mat is long enough that I don't have to keep worrying about all that while I am in the groove of practice. That is a big plus. The thickness is also good. I have sensitive knees, so I usually place this mat on top of another standard mat that is not as thick. Still, I notice it provides great cushion on its own. If the sequence of the day does not have a lot of poses on the knees, then it's perfect for me as a stand-alone. If I do a practice with lots of activity on the knees (low lunges, kneeling backbends, etc.) then I stack it on another mat (one of standard thickness) and might also use a pillow if one particular pose is balanced on one knee for a long period of time. This is just because my knees are so sensitive. If you have sensitive joints, this mat could be helpful. Of course, it depends on just how sensitive your joints are and the type of practice you lead. Personally, on ordinary, standard mats I tend to get a little tenderness on my hips (from sitting on the mat, on top of a wooden floor), or my ribs and pelvic bones (from doing things like dhanurasana bow pose or similar exercises). I still feel it even when I stack three standard mats on top of each other. This is because the standard mats are not quite as thick for my body's needs. But with this mat, it feels like heaven. I don't experience any negativity in my wrists, ribs, hips, ankles or anything. Yet, it's not so thick as to interfere with balancing poses for me. And again, sometimes I do put it on top of a standard mat (for my body's needs). But the fact that I don't need 3 of these (where even with 3 standard mats I would still feel some noticeable discomfort) speaks to its high quality in thickness. Bottom line: thumbs up for me. I'm 6'1" so I needed a long mat and this is just the ticket. At the price I don't know if there's a better quality, more comfortable mat. The only thing that could make me happier is if they had one with a skull design on it to make my yoga time a little more metal, but I guess that's on me to start a heavy metal yoga mat company. This is easy to clean with a little vinegar/water wipedown at the end of every session and dries out very quickly. I find the surface to be soft but steady, it doesn't slide around on my wood floors and I can get a good anchor for lunges and whatnot. Buy with confidence. Read more
Great yoga mat. Replaces my last one which got "borrowed" Read more
Smell is at bay so far. Good slip resistance, average thickness. No issues with this mat. Had it for about a year now and it’s still looking good. Read more
I debated before buying this mat, because I was afraid it might be a little too bulky to haul to the gym every day for yoga class (it isn't). I went ahead and bought it a few months ago, and I am so glad I did. It has been used for 4 months now, 4 days per week, and it still looks like new. It is so much nicer than others I have used. It is thick and cushy, but not so much so that it is hard to balance on. It is also long enough for my gangly long arms and legs. I can stretch out completely and my arms and legs still fit on it. The purple color is nice, and I also bought the strap that they recommend, which fits the mat perfectly. Read more
The good: This yoga mat is SUPER LONG. For someone tall (like me), it is perfect! Mat is comfortable for poses and easily rolls back up when finished. The bad: I did not find the mat to have as much "grip" as other yoga mats. It doesnt slide around on the floor but I did have some issues with my feet "slipping" on the mat itself. Maybe sweaty feet/humidity? But it took some getting used to. (this is why I did not give it 5 stars) Overall, worth the price I paid and was shipped and arrived a day early! (Thanks Amazon!) Cant complain. I have had several other yoga mats... not as thick, not as long, and not as nice for the same price. Read more
This yoga mat is thicker than most but not insanely so. I am very happy with the quality and density of color (I bought purple). Read more
Constantly had to move up and down my mat which got a bit old. This is a no-frills mat and will be good for years to come (same material as my old mat). The back of the mat is shiny and slightly sticky. See the photo (it’s the purple one). It’s substantially thicker (see photo). I weighed both mats in a lightweight bag. My old mat is approx. 1kg whereas the new mat is 2kg. Not ideal for travel, but it will do. Update: it’s a warmer day and I’m slightly sweaty. The mat is very slippery! I had to put one of my shorter mats on top. It will be returned. Read more
