I’ve been livestreaming for a while, but hooking up the YoloCam S7 with my YoloBox Extreme seriously changed the game for me. First off, the 4K video is insane — super clear and colorful, even when the lighting isn’t great. I usually stream multi-cam podcasts, and the autofocus keeps up with all the action without any lag or blurriness. Setup was a breeze. Just plug the S7 into the Extreme with HDMI or USBC, you’re good to go. No need for computer or bulky gear. What surprised me the most is how it doesn’t overheat, even after hours of streaming. The video stays smooth the whole time, no drops or glitches. I’m so happy with how it works that I’m planning to buy two more YoloCams to replace my bigger cameras. It’s definitely going to make my production easier and more professional. If you’re looking for easy, high-quality streaming, this YoloCam is definitely worth it. Read more

Auto Focus DOES NOT WORK WITH ZOOM LENSES. I only found this out after going back and forth with support (who were very responsive once I found them, so good credit there). We tried three different lenses, and all would focus behind the subject regardless of focal distance. This isn't mentioned in the marketing material or manual. They *recommend* prime lenses, but do not make any notes about the significant incompatibility between one of their headlining features and zoom lenses. Secondly, I'm disappointed to see that the simple saving of settings requires an account and online access for the desktop software. Similarly, they have the same requirement on the AI settings adjustment. What happens when they eventually take down their servers? By extension, their web site is a mess of broken links and missing documentation. Getting support was only possible via the "Contact Us" page... not the support or help pages. Aside from those flaws, the camera itself is fantastic. Image quality is everything you'd expect from a M4/3 platform, and the software allows for real-time adjustment of all the standard parameters. I've ended up returning mine because of the issue with AF, but would have gladly kept it if that worked. Hopefully they can sort that out in a future software upgrade. In the meantime, look at the Logitech Mevo Core or Blackmagic Micro Studio for a compact Micro 4/3 live camera. Read more

Picture quality was great and what I had hoped for. Features on the control software were disappointing. I am running this camera through a teleprompter which I had hoped that the focus system would work through, it did not (I can't fault YoloLiv for that) but I had at least expected it to allow me to switch to manual focus in the app. It does not. Furthermore, even if I switch my lens to manual focus, and dial it in perfectly, the camera will "Refocus" every time it starts up, or if you even go into the settings. The software also allows you to set profiles so that you can quickly load up previously saved settings. This has not worked for me. It allows me to save them, but then they just disappear. The software has a pretty cool AI feature that will adjust your exposure settings to make them ideal. This is a really cool feature when it works. It times out at least 90% of the time for me. It seems like it requires streaming the video to a cloud location to do the AI assessment, and it works better for me on some networks over others, but none are particularly reliable. I picked this one specifically because it seemed like the software to control it was robust and would work in a pinch. Until they improve it I can't recommend it. The hardware itself seems to be built solid, though it seems very finicky about the USB-C power provided to power it up. It is 5V and 3A supposedly, but its pretty hit or miss on which powered hubs or Charging blocks can actually make it go. Read more

These are fantastic studio cameras and well worth the investment. Much better than a webcam or trying to convert a DSLR to do the job. Perfect when you need simultaneous video over HDMI to a switcher AND video over usb to a computer (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, etc) WITHOUT a capture card! The continuous autofocus works well with prime lenses and gives you solid face tracking on a micro 43rds camera. Kind of a rarity especially at this price point. I love that I can remotely control the whole thing via software with a few mouse clicks instead of fiddling with knobs and touchscreens on the device itself. Really well designed and it’s the ideal solution for a permanent studio camera. Read more
