My family have been fans of Yumbox products for many years, so I was excited to see this larger style lunchbox. This is a little different than some of their other projects, because it is not a removable food tray that comes in the traditional Yumbox case--the food holding portion is connected to the top. It has a LOT of room inside this lunchbox. I wanted to test and see how leak proof the entire container was and if the inner spaces really were also leak proof. To do this I added water to each compartment and then added food color to 4 of the 5 compartments. I closed it and shook it all around. When I opened it, I wanted to see if any compartments seemed to have mixed colors. I did not notice that the colors mixed. I wouldn't put liquids in this and send it to school, but it is good to know that some liquid--say from thawing frozen fruit or maybe from yogurt--wouldn't move to different compartments and get everything soggy. When I shook it all around it did not leak on the outside at all--which is super important in a lunchbox in a packpack! My daughter is excited to give this a try at school. She likes that the bottom is clear and she can see what is in it right way--that does look nice. It easily fits in my daughter's lands end lunchbox too--so that is a plus! I am including some picture comparisons with different Yumbox models so you can see how the size compares. So why did I give this only 4 out of 5 stars? I really like the removable food tray that other versions have. Also, the lid had some trouble standing upright and open. The other ones we have will easily hold with the lid straight up and down even after 3 years of use, but this new one does not. Read more
