Our family love love love these yumbox lunch containers. I have used the same ones for 4 school years now and they still look new. The sections are perfect portion size for K-3rd grade (the bigger size would probably be better for older kids) They are completely leak proof, even with something runny like salsa. The middle section is perfect for ranch or hummus, which is the best way I can get my kids to eat their veggies. The large section perfectly fits a sandwich. The fit easily into regular lunch boxes, which is why I initially picked these, the bentgo boxes are much bigger in size but don’t hold as much food. They are easy to open and close even for a preschooler. They wash in the dishwasher nicely and don’t melt or warp. I will continue to buy these for kids as long as they have to bring lunch to school. I have been using Bentgo boxes for several years but decided to try out the Yumbox this year for my kid’s school lunches. I chose this one because my kids are getting older (8 and 10 years old) and I like that I can fit a full sandwich in the large compartment. One of my kids has type one diabetes and I like that these compartments are easy to measure the food I’m giving him. It feels sturdy and good quality. May kids enjoy the shark design and also like that it’s easier to open and close than their old bentgos. Read more

When my kids were starting school for the first time, I knew I wanted to pack their lunches. After doing some research on what type of container would suit our family needs, we chose yumbox and I haven't regretted it since. In fact, I've such a fondness for yumbox, my hubby ordered me my own purple bijoux, and it's wrapped up under our Christmas tree right now. Pros: 1. It's easy for little kids to open and shut 2. Yumbox is leak proof, I've put yogurt, pudding, apple sauce, maple syrup, and ketchup in, and it's never leaked into any other compartment.. 3. Which leads to my next point, yumbox is a bento style lunchbox and has 4-6 separated compartments. This was great for me, as my youngest had some sensory issues, and hated his food touching. 4. Yumbox is lightweight. I was also looking into planetbox because of the stainless steel, but from what I've read it's quite heavy. My kids were 2 and 3 at the time. 5. Comes in multiple colors. Cons: 1. Both the shell and tray need to be washed by hand and left to air dry over night or hand dried. Yumbox does state that the tray is top rack dishwasher safe; however, because of the way it's designed, once the dishwasher has completed its cleaning cycle, water just collects in the holes of the tray, and I've got a small bowl of water in the morning. It's not a deal breaker for me, just a slight inconvenience. Next, what you pack in the yumbox can't be heated in the yumbox and a separate ice pack has to be placed with it. (Rubbermaid has a great system that incorporates an ice pack or two with their containers). If I'm planning on sending them something warm for lunch, I bought a thermos food jar which does the trick. Overall yumbox has worked well for us and I highly recommend it for adults and kids. Read more

I first purchased this lunchbox 5 years ago and have since purchased three more. I got two more Paninos as my other children started school and now I'm upgrading my original child's Panino to a Tapas. The original Panino is still in impeccable shape after almost daily use for 5 years (grades K-4). My child has celiac disease and have to carry a GF packed lunch often: school, playdates, parties and sports activities. This little Panino has held up to rigorous use all 5 years and the only reason I'm purchasing a new one is we want the larger size. It is easy to open. It is easy to clean: I unload the tray and run both the tray and the open case in the dishwasher. It is leakproof for packing almost everything. However, I do recommend a sauce container for really watery sauces like soy sauce or vinaigrette. Thicker sauces however have been fine for us without a separate container. The color on the outer case is still perfect. The picture on the tray has started to fade but that has only been noticeable to me in the last year. Given how much use it's had I find that remarkable that it's lasted so well so long. Highly recommend! Read more

Bought three of these lunch boxes for my middle schooler and two elementary school kiddos. I was looking for a lunch box that can hold liquid/runny foods like yogurt and applesauce. I also wanted a way to include dipping sauce that wouldn't spill over into other compartments and this lunch box delivers! No leaks! It is perfect!!! It is a little of a pain to have to remove the lunch plate inside the lunch box for cleaning (and have to wash the case and plate seperatly), but I can see how it can come in handy when wanting to heat something up in the microwave without having to put the whole lunch box in. And it works very well for us! It has plenty of space for my middle schooler to load in food and is simple enough for my elementary school kiddos to open and close on their own. We both hand wash and place in the dishwasher and so far everything cleans very well. It is silimer than most lunch boxes so that helps when trying to fit other things like a water bottle into the main lunch box. For three kiddos this can be a high price, but I fully expect it to last us a few school years! :) Read more

Overall I really like this bento box. It has a solid clasp that is easy for my kids to use and it does not leak which is extremely important as it is constantly jostled around in a backpack. It is the perfect size to fit in a standard lunch box. The insert comes out for easy washing. The designs are super cute. But I deducted a start because some of the spaces are very tiny and I have trouble finding food to fit. Read more
