This beautiful, cute and cuddly, large 16-inch, adorably plump silk moth plush is absolutely a dream come true! He is constructed with such lovely accuracy and attention to detail, just perfect - from his feathery antennae, voluminous detailed wings, big shiny black eyes, golden-white fuzzy thorax, soft, squishy, segmented belly (abdomen), six gracefully spread legs, and right down to his cute little brown mandibles. Perfection! (Added photos of mine for reference, a lot more details below...) He is perfect for hugging and cuddling, and ideal for anyone who loves moths. The squishiest part of him is his full, plump abdomen, which is accurately long and segmented. His thorax is fuzzier, with a fantastic golden air-brushed paint-job amidst his creamy minky fur. His brown feathery antennae are made of a kind of rubbery/faux-leathery material that is bouncy and floppy, but lies perfectly over the back of his head. The little mandibles seem to be made of the same material. His six legs are made of a sleek material that is so accurate to the stance of a perched moth, stuffed firmly, with the ends of each leg being flat and felty. His wings are made the same sleek material that is double-layered and has an accurate printed-on scaly-looking moth-wing pattern. The only possible negative is the fact that he has a thin, long, flexible piece of plastic inside each wing-tip that is used to keep the wings flared out and in the same position, and the wings are also sewn together over the top of his abdomen. However, this doesn’t make him uncomfortable to hug, as due to the phenomenal design and quality, you can easily flex the wings up and down to slip your arms underneath the wings and hug the super-soft, squashy body of the plush. All of the various material choices used really capture the complexity and cuteness of this handsome and graceful insect of the night! I really wish this moth was made in a massive jumbo 2-foot size (like the HUGE, lovely Giant Isopod plush this company made, that I also own and adore). But this large moth is basically what I always wanted, and I am extremely happy with him! Note: At first I ordered the small version of this moth plush and was thrilled with how beautiful he was, but he was quite small. I sent a message to the company that makes these plushies and requested that they make a larger, more huggable sized silk moth — they replied that they would be happy to do this, and here he is! I really love the gorgeous insect and crustacean plushies this company makes, and I have collected quite a few - all of the mantises, beetles, the honeybee, and the isopods! I hope they make more different kinds of moths; I would absolutely be over the moon if they made a large deaths-head hawkmoth! I have a passion for entomology, and moths are among my favourite insects (along with mantises, beetles, and honeybees). Moths are stunningly beautiful, endearing, and amazing creatures that I personally think are more ethereal and complex in nature than butterflies; they too pollinate flowers and have so many other fantastic and unique qualities as well. Unfortunately, they are often overlooked and sadly unappreciated by most. Thus, moth plushies, especially morphologically-accurate ones like this one, are extremely difficult to find, especially in a large huggable size. (Personally, I never liked those very silly-looking puffball ones that the weird “Squishables” brand makes - those are too awkwardly huge, firm, and way too wide - almost spherical. Too round and firm to even hug comfortably; not to mention, they don’t even look like moths, but more like fuzzy beetles...)
