It fits perfectly right on the inner part of a cabinet door and most important it contains the smell from the food scraps. I own two of these and they have hugely simplified my kitchen chores. I have one hanging on the inside cabinet near my coffee and espresso makers - where I conveniently empty the used grounds. The other unit hangs behind my sink cabinet door where I conveniently deposit food wrappings, lids, vegetable peelings, and any other small trash items. Both items save me time and steps. These small trash bins allow me to keep my main trash can hidden in my pantry. I line both with small disposable trash liners and then dump them into my main garbage can when it's convenient. The quality was great, but had to return as it did not fit well in my sink cabinet. The top of the bin would collide with the cabinet top and not open smoothly. If it fits well under the sink it would be a great product to have for composting.
