Bought this as a gift to go with the Ulu Knives we gave as gifts. The person that one knife and one sharpener were given to was very happy. Would recommend this seller and product. Works well for the inexpensive ulu knife I have, after several passes with the sharpener I do several passes with my ceramic sharpening rod and it finishes the edge, the ulu blade only has a beveled edge on one side and the ulu knife sharpener only has a carbide blade on one side so if you follow the instructions it keeps the proper edge geometry on your ulu, works well for me and I have sent my son and daughter both one for their ulu edge maintenance. Different brand sharpened both sides at same time, like a kitchen knife sharpens. BUT a ULU klade needs to be sharpened only on one beveled side, then turn around sharpener to smooth burrs off other side just as nedded. This one does a sharp job on a ULU knife. / Note; a ULU knife is better than regular knife for some things. Cuts meat just by pushing down & rocking it---no slipping of meat as you saw thru it with reg. knife OR having to hold meat with fork while cutting thru it. Works better than pizza cutter, with rocking-push down motion....no sliding pizzas as you roll pizza cutter thru it. Same rocking motion cuts a sandwich nicely into halves or quarters, without sandwich parts moving around. I seldom use a regular knife, now. Read more
I purchased this sharpener with the most beautiful knife I have ever owned. I read someone else's review saying that they were having a hard time sharpening their Ulu knife. I looked up sharpeners and this one seemed like the best sharpener for the Ulu knife. It is very easy to use. The directions say to sharpener start from one tip of the knife and lightly move the carbide edge on the bevel side of the blade and the metal guide on the back or flat side of the blade. Repeat until you get the desire sharpness. The final step is to reverse using the carbide on the flat side to remove any burs. Gently. It was pretty easy. Read more
This sharpener works OK. I was a little disappointed but it does work. Just take your time and it will sharpen the Ulu. Just be patient as you sharpen it. It is angled right for ULU Sharpening. Read more
Got a ulu for my birthday this year to help to help due to hand weakness. This sharpener makes it easy to keep my blade sharp and reliable since it’s used most days. Read the directions until you’ve used it a few times. Once you understand how it works, it makes it much easier to use. Take your time while sharpening the blade and keep your fingers clear. 😉 Read more
