I used to just keep my onions and potatoes in the sacks they came in and that was really messy as onion skins and potato eyes began to litter my cabinets. These storage bins are a great step up. They keep the food organized and with the front openings, everything is easily accessible, without taking off the lids. The fact that they're transparent allows me to see everything and it's so much easier than having to look behind one item to find another, pushing everything into disarray. The bamboo lids look nice and allow me to stack the containers, but I wish they secured snugly onto the container, because as it is, they just sit lightly on the container and fall off whenever you move or reach into the bins or breathe. Once I had two bins, I suddenly realized that I could use a dozen more. They're a universal storage solution, for food and everything else. I use them for overflow, when I run out of drawers. Because they stack, I can stick them in a corner 5 levels high and store much more than I can in a single drawer. I use them under the sink and, with the lid on, I don't have to worry about items getting wet from a leaking pipe. I like to use them for the kids' snacks, because they can find their favorites, then reach in and get what they want, without having to ask me or to destroy my kitchen looking. The bins also work for condiments, dry foods, school supplies, toy parts and anything else you want to straighten up. I also like to use them as protection against dust. I like to keep extra face cloths and hand towels when we have guests, but if I just leave them out, they tend to get wet or dirty. This set is nice, lightweight, and has the main types of knives I want. The scissors also has a bonus bottle opener notched into the blade. The back of the block has a knife sharpener built in which makes it really easy to sharpen. The handles of the knives are comfortable to grip while using.
