I got these clippers because I just can't bring myself to cut my dogs nails. My partner said that if I got the equipment, they would clip the nails. These are the ones that were chosen, and I'm told they work great and are nice and sharp. It's much cheaper than taking them to the groomer for $10 each. It has a rotary file attachment that works well for smoothing the edges after clipping. It's ready to handle, not too heavy, and the file isn't too loud for the dogs to tolerate. I purchased this product after getting a new kitten because I loved the addition of the light and the grinder. Her claws are a little too soft for me to use the grinder yet but the light is amazing. I have small hands so take this as you see fit but it is a bit hard for me to hold based on the size. I am so happy I purchased this!! I have a 60lb mixed breed dog that has black and white nails so it's very difficult to cut them without being able to see the nerve. I used to have a Chi guillotine clipper for her but it got tossed in the trash accidentally so I needed a replacement. I was nervous at first because another reviewer said that the grinder was loud and scared their dog but I am happy to report it is not very loud, just a high-pitched buzz which didn't bother my dog. Compared to a Dremel rotary tool this is a lot quieter although I wish it had multiple speeds. The nail clipper part has sharp blades which makes it quick and easy to clip the nails and the catcher for the clippings is a nice touch as they usually just fling across the room. The grinder is easy to use with a simple slide switch and also has a removable cover as well as a guide for the nail. This tool makes it super easy to clip the nails and grind them to a nice rounded tip or just file down the nails where I can't see the nerve. While I can't speak to the long term quality of the unit as I've used it once the functionality of having two tools in one is great and it also costs less than the previous nail clippers that I had. I have black dogs with black nails, so I am always afraid of cutting their quick. The light is helpful and not. It needs to be at a certain angle or it is blinding you. The dremel side is amazing. The nail cutting side is sharp and quick to use. Even though I intentionally bought it for the light, it is so fast to use on my squirmy dogs. Read more
