Wow! When they claim that this thing will stick, they really mean it! It is very easy to install. Just find an appropriate flat surface, plop it down and twist the ring around the base and it is stuck. The suction cup with the nano-gel suction cup isn't taking any chances and will hold to whatever surface you put it on like it's life depended on it. Currently, I have it stuck to my lap desk, which has a hard, rigid, textured wood grain plastic veneer and it is NOT moving. I do not have any other things that use suction cups that would even work on this surface, let alone be this secure. I would recommend, though, to use this on solid, hard surfaces. If there is any type of flexible cover, veneer, laminate, or anything that has the possibility of separating from the underlying base, I would be extremely careful when needing to remove this holder. Or, better yet, find a different surface. I had it on a different lap desk, with more of a carbon fiber weave type surface and the suction cup pulled it up from the underlayment when removing, creating a bubble. It eventually went down, but not all laminates will. If I use this in my car, I will be attaching it to glass or other hard plastic surface instead of my dashboard because of this. There are also no screws to tighten or anything - you just move it and it stays. The phone comes with a cover sticker for the suction cup when not in use. Make sure to keep this!!! I lost mine, but was able to make a replacement from a thin plastic sheet from another package. If you don't keep the suction cup covered, then it's going to collect all sorts of dust and dirt. You can always wash it, but then you would have to wait for it to dry to use it again, so better off just keeping it covered. I was also able to use this holder free standing without using the suction cup. If you make sure the phone and the stand are balanced, then you can use this as a mini "tripod" in a pinch. The angles are limited, but it does well holding the phone while you need it to. Overall, this is a well made, solid phone holder that exceeds holding expectations. I almost gave it 4 stars due to the damage to my lap desk, but the description says "military grade" and "extreme conditions" and a "300% increase in suction," and it does exactly that, if not more, so I can't fault them from being over achievers.
