Multiple handles are great pre and post hip replacement !!
I bought this in prep for my hip replacement surgery as recommended by my surgeon and PT. My hip degeneration had gotten so bad that this even provided much needed help in the month prior to surgery as well. This makes getting in/out of bed so easy and I can do it myself without needing to call for help to swing my leg in or out. I was also instructed post op to keep the leg elevated and this device helped with getting my leg up and onto a stack of pillows. I especially love the multiple handles that run along the length of the device. Many have just one handle/loop at the end of the device. That would work fine when in a laying or standing position when your leg is fully straight. The option of the other 2 handles on this one also gives you easy control when your leg is bent and you don't need the entire length of the lifter. I especially love that the loop that your foot goes into, is rigid and padded. I saw others with a foot loop without rigidity and I can imagine that would be a little frustrating trying to lasso your foot while the strap is flopping around. This comes folded in thirds when packed. I was fiddling with trying to straighten it out by hand, when my husband came by, put his foot in the bottom loop and just pulled up using the top loop.
