This dash cam fits perfectly in my Toyota Prius and looks almost like a factory installed camera. I like that it blends into the car interior and doesn’t look bulky on the windshield. The 4K video quality is really clear and captures a lot of detail which is great for safety. Installation was pretty simple since it’s plug and play, and the included 128 card is a nice bonus so you can start recording right away. This is a pretty good camera system, and provides good quality video, but it's a bit of a pain to install and set up. And the instructions are not very clear or easy to follow. It does fit well, and the housing makes it look almost like it came from the factory when properly installed. It took me about 3 hours to install it and I honestly wish I had taken it to my local stereo shop to have them install it. The instructions were pretty poor, and not clear. I ended up having to look up tutorial videos on YouTube. Thankfully I found one for a similar camera system and was able to get it all hooked up. As for value, I'd honestly say it's a little overpriced, and overcomplicated. I think next time I'll just go for a regular dash cam setup that is designed for use in any vehicle, and is simply powered via the cigarette lighter port. It is actually so well integrated into the interior that it's hard to believe it hasn't always been there! They put a lot of thought into the physical setup of this, clearly. Being able to see everything ahead in 4k is tremendous. The rear camera is 1080p, which is perfectly adequate. All of the stored video is written over once the storage is full. So, no worrying with annoying popups asking which large files to delete first. Beyond just being able to pull up a secured and locked down video after an accident, this camera set also serves as a detailed vehicle tracker. So, if your car was stolen, you could log in to the app on your phone or on the web and track it; much like how you would locate an Apple, Google or Samsung mobile device. This would be a perfect add on for any parents who are sending a child off to college or even high school. It would be a small price to pay for peace of mind, to know that your family is safe.
