So this is perhaps another one of those implusive buy. First of all, a hunk of metal just for flatten the grind? Even if it has a specific term, tempering, but really it's for the coffee nut people. I mean I saw an article regarding an volcanologist came up with in his opinion, using the mathematics reserved for calculating the volcanic eruptions, making a perfect cup of joe with the wetted coffee grind. So yeah, about making espresso, this chunk of stainless steel is ergonomic and looks could be a modern art. An exact fit for a 54mm espresso grind holder. My warning to the first time users, watch out for how much you're packing. I.E. the more you press down, the less water will come out, the wet grind will also expand, and likely to clog up the machine. It is dangerous to obstruct the outlets of a gadget that is spewing hot steam and liquid. The standard amout of grind to use is 5 to 6 grams for an espresso shot. It took a few trys before I get a hang of tempering the espresso grind. It is good way to make an espress with the caffeine strength that's comparable to the coffee house. Read more

I have been using the plastic one that came with the machine 8 years ago. I thought after I got my machine back from repair due to neglect on the owners part on cleaning the machine that I wanted a real tamper to use. Worth the money as it does not take much to tamp the grounds down. Read more
Its a really good price for a very decent product. I like the wood handle & the size fits the filter basket perfectly. Really helps complete the espresso machine setup. The little place mat is another great addition to this product. Read more
