Great Gaming Headset.
Every product has an audience. This is the second kofire headset I have reviewed recently, and this one too is a good headset for the price. Mind you that price is lower than the first one so keep this in mind as you read. So lets dive in: Value: This headset is set comes in at a price point which I would expect that there would be much less to love. But this headset delivers a solid performance. Although if you are looking for a less flashy design also check out the UG-06 by ko-fire. Connections: Do you have a device? Good then this will connect to it, with a USB dongle that is type C with an A adapter, a Bluetooth receiver on board and an option to use 3.5mm headphone jack there is little this device won't connect to. The connections seem to be solid and stable in my testing, i had successfully connected this device to a desktop PC in all three modes, a Steam Deck in all 3 modes and in both windows or steam OS, a PS4/5, Xbox one (not the newest the last gen) and in all cases I had little to no challenges. Unlike the UG-06 this device has a physical switch to go between BT and wireless. As well the Dongle offers 2 buttons to control the headset as well. I found these to be less convenient that the on the headphone buttons. Comfort: I found these headsets to be very comfortable for short to medium gaming sessions, say in the 3 hours or less. After 3 hours I found i would move them a bit to find a new comfortable position. However, my son who is 12 had not such challenges, overall though i had no real complaints on the comfort level. The cups are not ultra soft and plush, and the headband offers a nice pad but not excessively thick. The headset is also reasonably weighted, adding a bit to the comfort level. Build Quality: These feel high quality in build, the materials are reasonably sturdy and the hinges seem like they will stand the test of time. This is not to say they are unbreakable, at this price point we have to make concessions somewhere. but overall, I am satisfied with the build. Sound Quality: This area makes it clear these are gaming headsets, the 40mm drivers do well at recreating the lows but like the UG-06 they struggle to hit the higher notes. The drivers seem to stay fairly clear and free from distortion through the lower range and re-produce up to around 15-16Khz. These are more Bass heavy on the tuning which makes the really fun when gaming, explosions, car engines and all the big booms are there. Typically, I find in the lower-level products that the highs are exaggerated, this is not the case here. Controls: Volume is handled by a pair of push buttons, there is a switch to allow BT and Wireless as well a button on the mic for muting. This one I find to be a bit odd, particularly if the included foam cover is used. It becomes a bit challenging to locate and click this button. Overall thought the necessary controls are here and work. Aesthetics: This is clearly geared towards Switch owners; the coloring matches the device. There is a tasteful light up ring around the housings that the speakers sit in. I think overall they are pleasantly designed and look and feel like quality headsets. Overall: This headset offers solid bang for buck, the overall functions are good, the performance is solid and if you are a Switch owner and ant to match your device these will get that job done as well. I enjoyed using these headsets and while there are some limitations in the design overall, I feel these are easily overlooked. Read more
