EDIT: I attempted to make colloidal oatmeal in this machine and had less than glorious results. I tried a variety of settings but it never completely chopped all of the oatmeal. There was a good bit of powder, but also too many oats that were untouched even after multiple attempts on various function settings and repeated stopping and stirring in hopes of redistributing the untouched grains to the blades. In addition, the vent in the lid sends out dust and particles that ended up all over the counter top and the nearby stove top so I was not thrilled about that. I kept my hand over the vent to at least corral it all to a smaller area. Cleanup was not difficult, just dump everything out and wipe with a towel - oh, and then wipe all the counter tops. All in all I am less than thrilled with performance on the oats as I had expected it to be fast and efficient, which was not the case. Perhaps I lack an understanding of how a nut milk machine operates but I also have no prior experience with one. Nowhere in the tiny print instructions - which I had to enlarge with my cell phone camera to be able to read - did it say that the unit required liquid for best function. I will chalk that up to learning by doing. This ends the edit, and below is my original review: This item appears sturdy and well made out of what feels like a quality heavy duty plastic that seems durable, not the kind that feels stiff and brittle, and as a matter of fact the overall feel of quality is far above what I had expected. The lid goes on and comes off easily with a simple twist and lift. Two silicone rings hold it securely in place while in use. If the unit is plugged in without the lid in place there will be an error code. The LED display is clear and easy to operate. There is some sound when the machine is engaged. I did not try all of them, but the nut milk setting is about as loud as a vacuum cleaner so be aware of that. Other settings were not as loud. I have not tried to boil water. There are eight menu function options including the cleaning setting and on the bottom row are Preset, Start/Cancel, Menu, and Keep Warm. An instruction book is included and it is very clear, but print is a bit on the small side. If you wear glasses you are going to need them. There is a menu section with 17 recipes and about half a page of troubleshooting tips along with the usual operation and cleaning instructions. A brush is included for help with cleaning. The interior is stainless steel and includes measurement markings which are easy to read and since they are raised in the metal will not wash off. The measurements are in mL so some conversion might be necessary for anyone more familiar with using ounces for measure. The cord is short, just over 2 1/2 feet, and plugs easily into the receptacle at the base of the machine. When not in use the cord receptacle is covered by a silicone flap which keeps it dry and free of dirt. It is three prong so it is grounded. The brush, instruction book, and cord are easily stored in the machine when it is not in use, but I did place a paper towel over the blades to protect anything from damage.
