Not only does the remote turn it on and off, it has three different types of brightness, and with each one of those you can raise and lower the brightness of that tint. It also has a timer. There’s not much to this lamp when it’s in the small box, but once it’s put together it shines. It’s great for narrow spaces. It’s a nice accent lamp, but not great as a reading lamp. I wanted it for its subtle lighting to gently illuminate a small room, and see my desk, but not create glare on my computer screen. The remote control, which is very handy, I use to turn the lamp on and off from my desk, and also to adjust the brightness, and even the color of the bulb, which can be either bright white, yellowish or a faint blue. The media could not be loaded. Nice dimmable floor lamp for the price. However, the picture does not match how the lamp looks. The shade does not cover the bulb socket. There is no way to fix this issue either as the shade snaps onto the ring and sits where it sits. So if you are able to get beyond that (which I eventually did) it is a nice lamp with lots of great features. It has an on/off button on the power cord or you can use the included remote. With the remote you can change brightness levels, color shades - white, warm, blue / cool. It has an option to set it for one hour only, reading and computer settings as well. The base is not large and is weighted but does not prevent the lamp from being slightly unstable. I would advise putting it in a low traffic area on a stable surface. Mine is on carpet against a wall so I do not have any problems with it. I gave it a four star rather than a five due to the deceptive pictures. Otherwise it is a nice lamp with great features. It was easy to assemble and I would recommend it for the price point. Read more

there's many different settings, from warm to cool tones, bright or dim, the remote is really handy, dont have to keep getting up to turn it on or off, so many settings to choose from. the foot of the lamp is kinda small so it's a bit unsturdy, so it tends to fall, the lampshade is tiny and tends to get a bit uneven or even come off. the on/off switch on the floor is nice just don't step on it accidentally, cuz it turns your lamp off when you're least expecting it. but overall very good functionality, very comfortable lighting. easy to use and easy to put together. The lamp itself is fantastic. Easy to assemble (though the lampshade took a little wrestling!). The lighting is perfect. Love that you can warm or cool it and the dimmer is perfect for brightly lighting a room or just having a nice low almost-nightlight. Even the height is perfect--I like that it's so tall, as well as slim! It takes up basically no space. It would be the perfect lamp if not for the remote. All the dimming and warming controls are on the remote, and it's constantly dying! I think I've had the lamp about a month and I've had to replace the remote's batteries FOUR TIMES, which is obviously not sustainable. I'm not sure if the remote is just poorly manufactured or it's an issue with my remote specifically. I'd love to request a replacement from the manufacturer, but only for the remote, not the lamp. If that were possible and the remote worked I'd change this review to five stars! UPDATE: I was able to do an exchange with Customer service where they sent an identical lamp even outside of the return period and the new one has a working remote. It's perfect!
