Pumps out really cool air. Uses 780 watts per hour, which isn't as bad as other units for 8000 BTU. Best used for individual rooms, but useful for living spaces for small apartments. The fan is honestly the best feature; it pumps the stale air outside with the exhaust port and pulls fresh air in if you have another window open. The dehumidifiern is essentially just the air conditioner on the low setting. Functionally, it works very well. It drowns out a lot of noise, but it's worth the money. The quality is great for what you pay for, and it's easy to install. If the window spacer is too long, it can be cut to fit by using a hot razor knife. Make sure to insulate the exhaust hose though, as it can be counterintuitive to have it emit heat while trying to cool down the room. Read more

I recently purchased this Portable Air Conditioner, and I must say it has been great. With a cooling capacity of 8,000 BTU, it efficiently cools down my large bedroom in no time. I appreciate its compact design and easy installation process—just a simple window vent kit, and it's ready to go. Not noticeable from the outside like a window AC unit. The panel is intuitive, offering a variety of settings to customize the cooling experience, including a timer, sleep mode, and fan speed adjustments. It not super quiet but you will get used to the noise. It also has a built in dehumidifier mode, which will help combat with summer humidity. It will require some maintenance with draining its tank. However, it is well worth the price with the saving I will gain from not having to run the central AC all through the summer. It is also very portable with wheels on the bottom making it easy to move from one room to the next. Read more

It was nearly 90° here in Los Angeles today, a perfect time to set up my 10,000BTU Portable Air Conditioner by Antarctic Star. Set-up was straightforward with the enclosed instructions and took about 30 minutes. The window kit was disappointing; it was too short for my window and only one piece of the window blocker fit. The 2nd piece was too narrow, so there is a 6” gap at the top and 1/2” gap along the 2nd piece of the window blocker. The air conditioner does pump out cold air and cooled my bedroom down in about an hour. It may have cooled the room down even faster if the window kit had fit properly and had completely blocked the hot air outdoors. Despite the hot air leaking in, being able to sleep in some coolness during a hot summer night is priceless! The size of this unit is 26” H x 14” W, which is not mini but it is smaller than other portable air conditioner units. So far I have only tried the air conditioning of this unit – I have not tried the dehumidifier or fan-only modes yet. I will have to revise this review once I have tried those out. Overall, this is a solid, effective and fairly compact portable air conditioner that does the job when the temps are high. Grateful to have this handy today!! Read more

I bought this 8000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner (3-in-1) for my bedroom (around 300 sq. ft.) and it works better than expected! It cools the room quickly, and the 3-in-1 feature (cooling, fan, and dehumidifier) makes it super versatile. It’s been a lifesaver during hot days and humid nights. Sleep mode is a great touch—it runs quietly and doesn’t disturb my rest. The 24-hour timer also helps save energy, and I love that I can control everything with the remote. It’s compact, easy to move around thanks to the wheels, and fits nicely in small spaces without being an eyesore. Read more

My daughter’s room was the hottest room in the house. After purchasing this unit, it is the coolest room and she doesn’t need to max it out. It was easy to assemble and set up, and works beautifully! Read more

TLDR; PRO: comes with remote, good size, water full technology CON: unreliable controls, inconsistent and unpredictable noise patterns, mediocre cooling (small bedroom), sketchy turning on, hard to maneuver regularly ^^^ note: i have only used it on its cooling setting, not fan or dehumid. i spent a while looking for a portable ac that would work for me and my space. i will say that i do like the size of this item, i was glad it has the water full sensor/light, and i am also glad it comes with a remote. but there are several things i can pick on as well. the remote is handy but it seems like it has trouble syncing with the machine sometimes. i’ll change the temperature with the remote and when i look at the set temp on the unit, the temperatures do not match up. same has happened with the speed. while the size is nice for a small space, the window fitting was disappointing. my window is 35” across and one piece of the window fitting was not enough but the 2 pieces together were too large to fit in that space even at their most compact size. the thing i might be most disappointed with is probably the consistency in general. i am pretty tolerant to ac and fan noise while trying to sleep, but this is a different loud than i anticipated. having it on high, low, or sleep (same as low?) does not make a huge difference in the ability to sleep around this unit. the problem is the inconsistent noises it makes pretty much constantly. in my experience, the machine does not make a continuous white noise kind of sound, but instead almost sounds like something is almost grating while it’s running? there’s also an up and down kind of sound but it’s not quite rhythmic if that makes sense. not to mention sounds of some sort of liquid loudly cycling inside the machine occasionally. the only thing that i can count on is the cheap ac buzz you’d hear in a motel or maybe an old fridge. if not any of that, it seems to cycle through the different speeds on its own, just based off of the sounds i’ve identified. the noise is unpredictable and it’s hard to tone it out. as well as that, no matter what cooling setting it’s on, it seems about every hour, it shuts off and starts back up which is very distributive as well. it doesn’t matter what temperature the room is, because it takes less than a second for it to turn on after it’s shut itself off. i’ve actually had it running in a small room for probably 48 hours now and it has not actually cooled the room to my set temperature once. anyways, it makes unpredictable noises constantly while running and makes a racket to turn itself off and back on again at almost unpredictable times. i cant even count on it to keep me cool enough to sleep because it hasn’t been able to cool my space quite enough. i’m also a little disappointed in this unit because it’s very dramatic in that short moment where it turns off and back on. when it happens while i’m not trying to sleep, i’ve noticed it makes all the lights in my room flicker like a power surge or something. not sure what that’s about but it does make me feel a little nervous and almost unsafe using it as much as i have. and even though this unit does fit in my space a little better, the one handle on the back is a little disappointing to help me move it around when i need to. even after following the directions, trying different positions and cooling settings, and just giving it some time, i am starting to regret my purchase. it does not cool my small space well enough for it to also be so hard to be around. i’m not even located in a super hot area, it should not be working so hard for the outcome im experiencing. i do not think it is worth its price honestly. i could probably pay the same price for a beefed up standing fan and i’d probably have better luck.
