This review is for model FDP23-202DR3, the seller has various models in this listing but my comments are specific to this one model. I wanted to take my time with this review because I've had experience with portable units starting great and then failing shortly thereafter. To that point I have had this unit for just about 2.5 months. My primary goal was dehumidification, so that's what my review will focus on. But I thought I'd give a combo unit a try because I live in a hurricane hot spot and running the whole home HVAC on generator gets costly, so it might be a blessing to have a backup AC option on hand. THIS IS A SELF EVAPORATING SYSTEM. If you're unfamiliar with this technology the thing to know is that as opposed to systems which collect all the water from condensation and send it to a large tank or waste pump, this unit will recycle a portion of that water internally. The purpose of which is to regulate internal components but more importantly the byproduct of recycling that water will eventually be evaporation. In simpler terms; the unit will remove water from the incoming air but also add water to the outgoing air. And so, if you desire effective indoor dehumidification, you MUST expel the exhaust air outside. Now you wont find any of this mentioned in the product listing information, or the manual, however you do see lots of listings showing the unit inside without being hooked up to an exhaust port. And surely there are types of dehumidifiers that can run indoors without exhausting outdoors (they have large collection tanks, this one does not), but this unit is not one of those types. So if you go on to read other reviews that speak about poor dehumidifying experience, it very well could be that those users simply weren't aware of the technology at work here. THE DRAIN PORT is located at the very bottom of the unit so if you'll either be using an included drain tube or you'll need to set the unit on something in order to positing a catch basin under. There's a float sensor for when the small internal tank does eventually fill, but there is no obvious indicator, only an error code on the display. There are two small hand grip slots on the rear sides allegedly to help you lift the unit, but they're so shallow and ill positioned that they don't really allow for a safe lift. THE HUMIDITY SETTING cannot be changed, and I cannot tell you what it's set at because its just not displayed anywhere or noted in the manual. One would assume its somewhere between 45-55% but my area is tropical, and its the rainy season, so whatever the target is, I'm not hitting it. Also the fan speed in dehumidifier mode cannot be changed, and it's not quiet. On the plus side it's a pretty great air mover so getting the circulation in medium to medium-large sized rooms is achievable. The EXHAUST HARDWARE includes a window baffle (min distance 34.75", max 47", thickness of 0.75"), a semi-rigid flex duct (max straight length 58"), and adapter plates to go between them. There is no sash anchoring or security hardware, weather stripping, or insect screen included. There are TWO FILTERS to maintain, both metal mesh type. Read more

This is a solidly built unit. It leaves much to be desired. It is the first one I have ever tried and not sure if it is disappointing or not. It is very loud and it drips water inside. The pictures and ad shows that it can be used inside in a room in the middle of the floor without a window and I do not think that is possible. Read more
This is our 2nd floor unit. Installation is easy; you install the panel in your window and connect the exhaust/hot-air hose. This was particularly convenient because we needed to install it on a side-sliding window, which is often a challenging installation for dedicated window units. It runs quiet. No louder than any window unit. When you run it on high, the air whoosh is about the loudest noise. Air conditioners remove water from the air. You'll have to empty this occasionally. Window units typically just drip outside. The controls are simple. The remote worked well. But, we usually lose it. I enjoyed the tall form factor. Read more
Zero stars ! This thing is a huge pile! It quit working in less than a month ! Called Amazon to correct it as I just got home from vacation. Can have the ac on high as it sounds like an airplane is going to take off so loud and smells as if it’s burning up. The cooling sucks I put in a small room and it still feels as if the oven is on. Installation is a joke make sure you read it’s for a French door window or door. The build quality is sub par! Save your money and spend a few more bucks on a better quality air conditioner!!! This air conditioner has become my best friend. I absolutely lovvvveeee it ! I live in Texas summer days were hitting over 105° day after day. I have a old central A/C system in my house that just couldnt keep up with the heat. Inside my house was 90° even after the sun set. UNTILL THIS MAGICAL MACHINE! It has worked wonders in cooling my house down. And the set up was literally in minutes. Very portable not super heavy and the window insert can be removed and replaced with very little effort needed. The Air tube connected stretches out super long to be able to place it anywhere. It has a drainage tube and hole but Since it's very dry in Texas I don't have the drainage tube connected and I have to drain it maybe once a month. Bonus features I love are it is pretty quite it's not annoying and I would think a baby could sleep through the sound. It also has levers that allow you to point the air in the direction your wanting instead of just straight out . My energy bill has gone up a little bit but not as much as expected so I would consider this energy-efficient. Overall surpassed my expectations. Read more

This portable AC was easy to set up with the included window kit, and it started cooling my bedroom almost immediately. Despite its compact size, it’s powerful enough to keep the room comfortable even during hot afternoons, and I like being able to switch between AC, fan, and dehumidifier modes depending on the weather. It runs surprisingly quiet, especially in sleep mode, and the remote makes it simple to adjust without getting up. The portability is also handy—I can roll it into another room whenever needed. Overall, it’s efficient, user-friendly, and a great value for the price. Read more
