This is one awesome knife sharpener. It is pretty small (pocket sized), but it definitely works to sharpen knives. Just a few passes through the course and fine side and pocket knives are good as new. Pros - Compact; Size and weight make it ideal for packing into a backpack or just carry around in your pocket. - Cheap (in price only) - Looks to be a high quality product that is well built and should last a long time - Great for sharpening pocket knives and multi-tool knives. Cons - A possible con might be its small size if you are looking for ways to sharpen larger kitchen or hunting knives. Not sure I would attempt to use this since it is so small and might be dangerous to try and run larger knives through it. The holding portion of this sharpener only fits between the thumb and index finger. It could probably still do the job though. Read more

Works a bit, but not very well. I should have known better. Does a decent job of bringing a kitchen knife back into shape as long as its been done properly on a wet stone or serviced by a pro. It might be worth asking if your local hardware store (Ace by me) does knives instead. At $2/each, that will be how I sharpen kitchen knives going forward. Read more

I got this as a backpack emergency sharpener and it has proven itself over and over again. On lighter bladed knives like my old Ulster Boy Scout, it works perfectly. On my harder bladed knives like my Shrade SCHF12, it barely polishes the steel. If you need a decent sharpener for your lighter steel blades, I very highly recommend this. If you're looking for something to sharpen your heavier knives, I suggest you keep looking. I have a Smith's commercial kitchen sharpener that is ideal for that, but it requires an outlet and very close attention. Absolutely the best! I've bought about 5 different types of knife sharpeners, from freehand to supposedly angled, to this one. It's the easiest to use and the sharpest I've ever gotten knives; and I mean razor sharp that shaves hair on my arm!! I use it for pocket knives to kitchen knives! Hand rods that come with kitchen knives are for wanna be show offs because no one without 20 years of practice can free hand a sharp knife and get the right angle, but these are effectively fool proof as long as you hold the knife at the perfect up and down angle, with rubber feet on both sides of the knife sharpener to keep it from slipping! Looking back on my Amazon purchased, I bought my first one in April 2015. Since then I've bought about 20, giving over 5 away as gifts, and using the rest for kitchen, fishing fillet knives, in my car for my pocket knife, my camping equipment, worn out and replaced, and I have 3 backups now including one of the Accusharps with a diamond blade, though I don't recommend because I see no more difference in sharpness compared to this one. For an inexperienced, casual cook, such as myself, this sharpener seems to be a good product. The sharpener is easy to use and effective. I bought this to sharpen my kitchen knives that had dulled with use. I'm not very serious cook, so most of my knives stainless steel for convenience, although a few are carbon steel. This sharpener worked easily on both the stainless steel knives and the carbon steel blades. A few strokes on the blade with the coarse side, then a few strokes with the fine side, and the knife blade was sharp again. I don't know enough to know if the level of sharpeming I can get get with this would satisfy a maste chef, but I find it to be a big improvement. Read more
