AWESOME gloves for heavy work! Nearly rip-free and the long cuff stays up.

I've bought the Adenna black 9 mil "Dark Light" gloves for YEARS as my go-to gloves for heavy mechanical or gardening work. I've been upgrading to extended cuff in my thinner gloves recently and came across this heavier extended cuff model from Adenna. I was expecting good things from Adenna and I am not disappointed! I recently had to trench in some new sprinkler pipe and valves in the yard, which included a lot of hand-digging in hard, dried, dirt and rocks. Some 6.5 mil extended cuff nitrile gloves that I recently bought, before finding these 14 mil, would rip a couple of times every digging session. Yeah, dirt in the finger nails. Not these! Only once in all the days worth of work I did with them did the top of a finger rip, but did so while I was doing some VERY heavy scraping of old, hard, dirt and rocks out of a hole. Ha I'm sure that would have scraped up the end of my finger skin pretty badly too if not for the gloves. I wouldn't even think about the 6.5 mil gloves anymore for heavy work! Like the 9 mil Dark Light, these are nicely rubbery and stretchy. The cuff stays up very well and is long enough to keep stuff out. The only downside, if I call it that, is that 14 mil is too thick for my "daily driver" gloves for general cleaning, housework, and washing pet food bowls. I still use the 6.5 mil (and 5 mil) for less demanding stuff. Different glove thicknesses, different purposes! Read more

Very high value product--extremely durable and priced reasonable

Jeffrey P. BaconAugust 28, 2019✓ Verified purchase

I'm a mechanic. I'm really hard on my hands, and I don't like wearing gloves. When I do wear them, I regularly destroy your typical Mechanix Wear gloves doing heavy work. Now, those gloves are $15-20 per pair, so I have found myself going without gloves due to cost. All that said, I am getting older and I'm sick of beating up, cutting up my hands. A friend gave me a pair of the Thickster brand 12 mil latex gloves (a competitor of Adenna I suppose). I really liked them, but they were $22/box. Then, I saw these Adenna Hero gloves for less cost, thicker at 14 mil, and I decided to try them. First off, they run small. If you wear a large, order an extra large. Don't worry, the gloves won't fit loose at all. You'll prefer the "one size up" fit as it's comfortably snug on your hand yet you can more easily put on and remove the gloves. Second, these gloves are D-U-R-A-B-LE! I removed an exhaust from my truck, cut off the hangers underneath the vehicle with an air cut off tool, ground the parts with an electric grinder, reinstalled the new exhaust, and bolted it all together with these gloves on. That's really heavy duty work. Sure, I got the gloves really dirty, but I couldn't believe they didn't rip! So far, I have used seven or eight pairs of these. I was only able to rip one of the gloves, and that was due to me sharpening a lawn mower blade with a very course/sharp file and the file nicked the glove. When you remove the gloves, your hands are sweaty and the gloves pull off inside-out. Yet, what I have pleasantly discovered is that I can remove these gloves after an hour or so of heavy work, turn them back right-side and shake the fingers back into position, and then reuse the same pair of gloves. They are that tough. The dexterity and feel are great too. I can hold the smallest parts with my fingers (like a bolt and nut), and install them easily with these gloves on--the exterior of the gloves are very smooth yet very "grippy." If you are doing finer tasks, you'll find these gloves are simply a second skin on your fingers. They don't get in the way. Overall, considering the great durability, dexterity, and reasonable cost, these gloves are fantastic. I gave just a 4-star for comfort due to the sweating I get on my hands while using them. Maybe that's unfair as the same thing happened with the Thickster gloves and I think it's just the nature of the beast. Oh well.... If you do heavy work like I do, you'll find these gloves protect your hands well, have fantastic dexterity, and they last. If you do lighter duty tasks, I think you'll be able to make one pair last for days and days (if you don't mind reusing--these are disposable gloves you know). I will say from the heart: Wear gloves whenever you can for your own protection. I went decades without using gloves due to durability, dexterity, and cost issues. My hands are so beat up and callused as a result. Not to mention all the chemicals I have exposed my skin to. These are cheap protection. Make them mandatory when you work with your hands. Read more

Very durable, good feel, and long!

H. A. NewnessDecember 28, 2019✓ Verified purchase

These are the thickest gloves I have found. They are very durable, yet they have excellent feel. And they are relatively warm (bonus). Also, true to size. Today, I wore a pair for about 5 hours. it got up to 48 degrees, so I did outdoor chores. Pressure washed two cars and a snowblower to get all the road salt off everything. The long cuffs made the pressure washing great as they stayed well up under my rain jacket sleeves. No water ran down into my hands. No issues with manipulating all the fasteners and spray heads either. And my hands stayed warm. Then I installed new horns in my Prius. This required undoing numerous bolts and button fasteners around the grill, then removing the crappy old horns and wires, and installing the new ones. I also had to stop and create a new ground pigtail since the existing one was so corroded it broke upon removal. Toyota puts the horns in a very tight location between grill and frame, with lots of exposed sharp edges. No worries. These gloves snagged on the sharp bits several times but never ripped. I even pinched them in the wire fastener crimpers a couple times, but they never punctured. I had no trouble stripping wire and crimping fasteners on. No dexterity issues. The long cuffs also protected my wrists nicely. When I was taking them off at the end of the day, I actually TRIED to rip them. No dice. These gloves are great. Highly recommended for chores and wrenching. Read more

Wonderful gloves, but 2+ years old

Princess AmygdalaJuly 16, 2023✓ Verified purchase

This was my second box of these excellent, durable, flexible gloves, which I use for tasks like dishwashing, scrubbing bathroom surfaces, and bleaching hair. I haven't a bad word to say about the product itself. Unfortunately, Amazon Services LLC shipped me gloves manufactured in March 2021, or two years four months ago. That means I've got eight months left in the theoretical three-year shelf life of a latex glove, and this set of gloves does seem slightly deteriorated in texture. By the time I realized this, I'd opened the box and repackaged the gloves -- otherwise I'd probably return them. So buy the gloves, but maybe buy them where you can check the manufacture date on the box yourself. Read more
