Pros- Excellent carpet grooming Strong airflow and waterlift Very quite Easy to service Honestly, I have no complaints for this vacuum, and it is excellent AS LONG AS you understand the machine you're getting, and use it accordingly. I see prior reviewers have complained about the red light (bag check light). As with many bagged vacuums, this light should be labeled as a performance indicator light, not a bag full light. If lots of fine particles are picked up, they will clog the bag and cause the light to come on well before it is 'full'. That said, the bag filters incredibly well for a paper bag, and the Advance VU500 comes standard with an H13 hepa filter as well. If you have a lot of medium pile (or lower) carpet to clean, get this vacuum. Just know that it is very bare on attachments. Read more

Cleaning company use. Think twice before buying this. From a company that has been making cleaning equipment for almost 100 years I expected better. LOTS better! First the bad. Very small bag and bag full light comes on after the bag is ONLY 1/4-1/3 full. About 2 cups worth of dirt. Switch is on box and NOT on the handle as any quality maker of vacuums would know! Suction is marginal. Cord is shorter than the industry standard of 50 feet. Definitely NOT capable of one pass cleaning. Thumping motor sound. Now the good or possible positives. Noise level is acceptable, but only barely. Maneuvers nicely. Carry handle seems good. Weight is acceptable. Cord storage system MIGHT be a good way. Might reduce the cord twisting that occurs over time with use. Still, it seems kind of a sloppy way to do it.. Comparing to Windsor, Rubbermaid and Oreck commercial units...this one takes last place. I disagree with W. Westfall. I like the Advance VU 500. I am the Facilities Director at a large church North of Flint, Mi. This is my go to vacuum. I have had it for almost 3 years. I have noticed that the suction has reduced a little, but nothing major. I love the cord wrap on it. Makes is so quick & easy to take on & off the vacuum. The bags are easy to change. The one thing I wish it had was a floor light. So, I went to Walmart, bought a light & McGyvered it on it. Not pretty, but functional. I would buy this vacuum again. Read more

As a custodian at an Elementary school, We have a lot of classrooms. Although I held high hopes for this vacuum it's definitely not for high traffic dirt in a classroom setting. The red light sensor went on, and had to change bag. It was less than 1/4 full! though I did not realize that's why the red light had come on. I ended up doing about 17-18 classrooms, ignoring the light. Our other vacuum bag would get 7-8 times the dirt in one evening, meaning this probably didn't get the dirt deep down, probably the very top layer of dust. I don't like that you cant adjust the height , the handle falls flat onto ground if you let it go... the plus? wow, I can get down into hard to reach areas. I really liked that it was a lot quieter than the ones we have currently. it looks light weight but still heavy. This is great for office buildings banks, doctors offices etc. but not for heavy industrial daily vacuuming in my opinion. I want to like it but it doesn't cut it for the kind of work I do. Read more
