AirDog is truly the oddball in air purifiers once you do a lot of research across the market, but that's also what intrigued me. The big draw is a truly washable filter system so you're not committing to endless purchases. So there isn't really a physical barrier that is trapping particles like a HEPA filter would, but the tech does cause particle flowing through to be charged and stick to the plates that you can wash. It sounds crazy, but I just washed mine for the first time after a month of ownership and there was dark soot all over them... so it definitely works! There are a lot of various opinions and research about the safety of purifiers using any kind of ionization process because of the potential to release ozone. AirDog models are all UL certified and meet the California standard, so I'm not worried about it. My goal for the purchase was to improve my allergies and reduce airborne virus spread. Obviously, I won't ever be able to say for sure if this thing can or has ever prevented illness from pathogens, but I can say that my allergies have improved. A fire in the foothills a year ago and I started with horrible hay fever from the pollens. I hadn't suffered that bad since I was in my teens. That was sixty years ago. So, between that and my brother moving in with his two dogs and a cat. Plus he smoked so his stuff smelled of smoke. He smokes outside now because he's a good brother. Back to the Airdog. So, I spent the big bucks (for me) on this beauty. It has cleared up so many smells and toxins over the last several months, I can't believe it's still going. And it is, still going! DO NOT BUY! I bought this on a sale via the lightning deal from the "Airdog USA" seller and "Fulfilled by Amazon". The box was obviously opened before since all of the original Airdog box tape was already cut and then slightly taped over again. The shipping labels of the original owner are still on the box. The plastic bag for the power brick was loosely dumped in the box. The power brick cord was messily uncoiled and separate from the bag. The unit itself had a bunch of hair stuck to it and all of the tape that should be holding the filter door closed was taken off and messily stuck to the the front of the unit. The collection plates were already installed. When I plugged it in, the fan would turn on for about 10s before shutting off, regardless of the fan setting (i.e. L1, L2, L3, L4) then showed a " - F - " code that isn't documented anywhere. I assume that means FAILURE ( "- C -" means clean and "9XX" means other problems). Multiple attempts to reboot/power cycle did nothing. Save your time and look elsewhere. Clearly the company is just trying to unload all of their returned, broken units to unsuspecting customers under the guise of a "sale". Love, Love Love this air purifier. Had it a couple weeks & is so quiet. The color indicator turning on when it is working harder is so cool. Could tell right away that it was making a difference. Haven't had to clean it yet, but it looks just like the one I got for my car; so should be easy & simple. Great product! Read more
