I give the 5 Stars only because I have used Dell computers in the past. Currently I am using a TOSHIBA Qosmio Gaming Laptop w/ 32 GBs of RAM that I purchased new about 8 years ago with Win 8.1 Pro. Still works great. However, January 2023 WIN 8.1 will no longer be supported. So, means buying a new high end laptop with WIN 11 PRO. Now, about the new, thin Alienware Laptops... I have worked with Desktop and Laptop computers for the past 35 years. I can say from my own first hand experience that with a high performance "desktop" replacement laptop, it better be thick; have lots of cooling vents so that all work together to circulate the air. THIN is not "cool" when dealing with a high performance laptop used in place of a desktop computer. The added space helps dramatically keep things 'cool.' Read more
I ordered my $3500 x17R1 in December, received on Dec 12, left it until after Christmas holidays to swap over from my current main system. However, when I started to use it for minimal tasks it started freezing up and then throwing various blue screen of death errors and shutting down. Having memory errors as well which keep reoccurring. Dell rep said because it was over 30 days since purchase I was not eligible for return and replace. Thus far dealing with Dell has been difficult at best, they send me instructions on various things to do, still get memory errors and blue screens. I just want a computer that works, particularly since I spent $3500. I am still using my old system because I cannot depend on the x17. It is a 7 pound paperweight on my desk which Dell seems very uninterested in repairing or replacing...even with the premium support package I purchased!!! Premium support is a misnomer at the least. Owned Alienware laptop for a month and it completely stopped working…wouldn’t even turn on and none of the online troubleshooting tips did anything Adding to this…a tech had to come out and fix it which took days…now 4 months later and the POS laptop won’t turn on again…do not waste ur money on Alienware Read more
