I was hesitant to order these because I get itchy when wearing most wool items. I’m sooo glad I took a chance because these are the BEST WINTER SOCKS EVER! This has been a frigid winter and my feet were so cold all the time. I tried fleece, heavy cotton socks, new slippers, etc. when I got these it was a game changer! My feet are not constricted, and the fluffiness and SOFTNESS of these socks are unmatched. I now have “happy warm feet”. Wow. Zero itching, not too tight on the ankle or shin, and WARM! I was so pleased I ordered several more pairs. The only minor downside is not recommend for machine washing so I will just wash them in a plastic tub and air dry. My feet seemed to almost melt into the softness & the remarkable warmth of these ALPACA WOOL socks. Absolutely unbelievably soothing to my feet. Before these, the most enjoyable socks for me were always Merino Wool. Those are great, I must say. What an unexpected surprise to have found anything to surpass Merino. I washed them with a full load using standard laundry soap & cold cycle & let the ALPACAS air dry. No problem with that at all. No shrinkage. If dried in the dryer -- there would be, I'm sure. Great quality, winter socks. Not inexpensive -- as compared to other types of fabric. I knew these socks were going to be good the moment I saw “baby alpaca fleece.” That just makes sense. But I didn’t realize how good until I put them on, and then didn’t want to take them off. These are the first socks I’ve ever owned that don’t leave those tight indention lines on my legs. Every other pair I own does that, but not these. They stay up without strangling your skin. Huge win. They keep your feet warm without overheating you, at least not in winter. And here’s something I didn’t expect: if they get wet, they don’t get cold. They still feel comfortable, and they even dry surprisingly fast. That alone puts them in another league. I’m honestly excited to see how they feel in spring and summer. And if they’re too warm for the hottest months? Fine. Three out of four seasons ain’t bad. I am a long-time lover of Alpaca, so very familiar with and love the lightweight, warmth, softness, etc. I started an outdoor job and needed warm socks, and I was very pleased with the price, quality, thickness, etc., of these socks. So soft and comfortable!! The missing star is because I worry how they will hold up after cleaning, a lot of the tiny hairs shed fairly quickly. However, they are a good medium thickness. They are more moisture wicking than my other blended socks which is a plus. It hasn't been cold enough to judge on thermo but Im confident they will keep my feet warm. These socks are awesome. They keep my feet super warm as I work in my basement all day long. They are so soft and comfy. And they do not dig into your calves at all. They also don't fall down or need to be yanked up constantly. A quality pair of socks (well two pair to be technical).
