This is definitely a King Sized pillow! We have a king sized bed, so having pillow cases that fit, were not an issue. This pillow has made the rounds from my bed to the living room, and used on the couches as well. Everyone has agreed that the pillow is comfortable and not too squishy and not too firm. My son noted that it did not make him hot, so it does have a cooling effect. I've used it for sleeping and found it supportive and not "too tall" to sleep on. Overall quality is excellent. The outside case is high quality and easy to clean. If needed, some of the shredded foam can be removed to decrease the height of the pillow. Overall I am impressed with this pillow and recommend. I have a few issues that make it difficult but necessary to keep my head and neck in the right position. I've bought so many pillows over the years, all of them highly rated and worked well for others, but pillows are a personal thing and no pillow works for absolutely everyone. I think this one might be close, though. The memory foam is supportive and comfortable, having enough give to shape well to my head but not so much that my head and neck sink out of alignment over the course of the night like some other pillows I've used. And being able to remove some of the filling to get to just the right height and support has been a bit of a process, but it's SO great to be able to do it. I've have a couple pillows with two or three layers that give some ability to make adjustments, but nothing that allows me as much customization as this and I LOVE it. The only thing is that it is definitely messy whenever you open the pillow and remove or add the filling material. It's shredded memory foam, and it's not a bunch of same-sized pieces. There's a wide range of sizes, from chunks the size of one of my fingers all the way down to something the size of a fingernail clipping, and those small pieces can get anywhere and are really hard to find. I definitely recommend setting down a towel or something and doing all of the adjustment of the filling on top of that, it'll make cleanup much easier. Read more
For over twenty years, pillows have been my enemy. A neck injury has made finding the right pillow a life quest. The best pillow turned out to be the original “memory foam” brand, back when they were the only game in town. And they were priced accordingly. But nothing lasts forever, so it’s been one attempt after another, chasing the perfect “memory foam”. One thing I’ve learned about this type of foam is that not all foam is true memory foam (this isn’t) and not all are created equal. It might bounce back to its original shape, but it doesn’t necessarily hold the shape it needs to around your head and neck. The answer to that has been to use shredded foam instead and call it memory foam. As far as I’m concerned, that’s just cheating, but it makes for a more universal option for people who want more or less foam in the pillow, which happens to be the advantage of this particular pillow. I figured for such a hefty price for a pillow ($46, but still half the price of my best ever pillow) surely it must be awesome. But is it? First, this big boy is heavy. It comes deflated, rolled and wrapped in thick packaging. My husband lifted the box and asked, “Are you sure this is a pillow?” It takes a while for the pillow to achieve its full impressive size. I ordered Queen, but it fits a king pillowcase with effort. I’m glad I didn’t order the king size. The fabrics and construction are quite good, but I’d expect nothing less at this price point. One side is the “cool” side and the fabric does feel cooler to the touch. That is, until you sleep on it for a few minutes then everything is just as warm as you are, of course. The outer layer is zippered. Inside is another zippered layer. This is where the foam can be accessed. To change the thickness, firmness, or shape of the pillow, just remove some of the shreds. Miraculously, it always seems to take up more space on the outside than on the inside of the pillow. I left the pillow in its original state to give it the benefit of the doubt and because I had no idea what I’d do with all those scraps of foam. In that state, it’s quite firm, and still more heavy than I’d like. It certainly doesn’t shape itself to give support to the cervical spine. It’s not exactly a pillow you’d flip and fluff and scrunch around in the middle of the night. I certainly wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of a pillow fight with this thing. So is it a keeper? It definitely has a quality look and feel to it. It’s probably going to end up on my husband’s side of the bed because he prefers a firm pillow and I prefer solid foam over shreds. To me, shreds just seem to leave gaps in all the wrong places once you start removing the foam to get it Goldilocks perfect. And although I’ve paid more for a pillow I lovingly used and cleaned and traveled with for years, the price of this one just doesn’t influence me to love it any more. I really want to give it three stars, but it’s probably more fair to give it four because it’s more about the product than my own experience with it. If this pillow works for you, I expect it would last quite a while with proper care. Read more
Yet another pillow to try~ I have gone through a lot of different kinds of pillows to find comfort at night. This one wins for me ! Very large King pillow is stuffed to the gills with foam pieces. It's much to tall for me but fortunately, this one is made to be totally adjustable :) There is a washable cover on the outside that zips open. Inside that is an inner zipped pillow portion filled with the foam bits. I took out a good deal of foam (3 large gallon bags) and then raked through the rest to evenly distribute the foam bits. Made so easy to adjust ! The outer pillow cover has two different fabric surface sides; one is a cotton-soft fabric (looks bubbly), the other is a cooling fabric surface (for those of us who deal with hot-flashes!) (it looks shiny, flatter with dimples and it really does cool you !). I love having a choice of surfaces, depending on the night. I actually dread replacing a worn pillow because it has to be the right fit. I do get hot flashes and I'm prone to stiff neck and migraines. I expected a couple nights of painful transition while trying out (yet another) pillow but it was instantly comfortable, All.Night.Long. I realize we're all different, but for me, it was a huge benefit right away. Yes, this one has a higher price tag. For me, it is definitely worth the price. Read more
The Alpha home pillow lives up to a lot of its description. It’s comfortable and can be adjusted to suit your comfort level by taking out some of the foam. I like that you can sleep on your side or back and feel supported. I’m not a fan of the illusion that this pillow is “100% clean foam” or “Certipur” sealed. The outer cloth and inner material is still made from a type of polymer plastic that’s not very breathable. I took a picture of the label. Read more
