Read the reviews on this and about 50 other scratching posts before picking this one. Picked because of the little pedestal on top and for being taller so the cats can stretch out! Wasn't long before the 1-yr old was on top and scratching away when I put it down for them. Assembly took about 3 minutes! REALLY sturdy! Nice design! No weird smells either! Looks nice too so you can put it in a living room instead of hiding it away. Seems to be holding up really well and is a high quality scratching post! The little ball that comes on it is fun for the cats too and even comes with an extra replacement ball and a little set of tools. I was hesitant because so many other posts just fall apart or leave junk all around the floor after they scratch but this one doesn't have any of those issues at all! I recommend and the cats seem to approve! Read more
TL;DR: big stretches, fun to climb, cat approved and highly recommended. I have two 4-year-old cats with opposite personalities. They have never had an official scratching post (besides the 4 on the legs of their tower and our couches if that counts) so I decided to do some research. Square scratching posts are best for cats to get a full stretch in with their scratches. The first few I saw were $50+ so I am glad I found this one. It is extremely sturdy, tall, well-made. It comes with a little fuzzy ball attachment and an extra in case that one is destroyed. It is easy and quick to assemble. The brown parts are very soft. My cats took a bit to actually use it since it was their first experience with one, but once they did, they fell in love. Bean (pictured) loves bug stretches and getting a good scratch in. She is also very proud of herself for jumping up top. Overall, highly recommended for quality, price, and enjoyment. Read more
My kitty loves this thing! It looks great in the home and the base is wide enough that it is not very wobbly when using and sturdy when sitting on top. It is easy to clean and barely sheds as it is woven fairly well. He seems to really like the texture and has stopped scratching the couch a lot more. Even when he had his previous scratcher (much different than this) he still used the couch more than he does with this scratcher. Great price too!! Read more
Heavy duty cat tree. I have a heffalump of a cat. he's a rather large boy so a taller, more sturdy cat scratcher was needed. Easy to put together just mind the split base when installing. Pinched my finger and many expletives left my mouth. Also mind the toy, I accidently got string stuck while installing the top. Cheaper price than ones I bought two years ago from chewy. Read more
The Amazon Basics Cat Scratching Post is a simple, sturdy option that works great for both cats and kittens. At 35.4 inches tall, it’s high enough for cats to fully stretch while scratching, which helps satisfy their natural instincts and keeps them from going after furniture. The sisal rope material is durable and gives them the rough texture they love, and the neutral brown design blends easily into most home spaces. It was quick to assemble and feels stable for everyday use without taking up much room. My cat took to it right away and uses it daily, which has definitely reduced unwanted scratching elsewhere. Overall, it’s a great value if you’re looking for a basic, reliable scratching post that gets the job done without any extra fuss. Read more
I have a Maine Coon that just loves to show off his handsome looks by modeling on top for this pic. This is my second scratching post like this and I love how the last one lasted two years and Henry and my other cats are still shredding the post daily, or at least until my new one comes in this Thursday. Amazon makes a really good solid post that does not tip over. The carpeted base gives them the traction they need for vigorous 'workouts'. This is not one of those post with the siscal going around and around, causing nails to come off before they were meant to and me finding their little bloody paw prints. So that one went into the trash immediately, and I went back to what I know works best for my cats. Most of my cats are large, except for one, and this post takes a daily beating. The only thing that would make this post better is if it had 4 more feet of height, since Henry loves to climb on it and just hang there, real chill. I highly recommend this particular post because it has the fiber mat that wraps around it, not causing damage to their paws. No rope going around on this post. This post is Henry approved. Can't get a more solid reaction then that. Henry is quite stubborn about what he likes and does not like. Actually Henry is just stubborn, but so is this post. It just keeps on keeping on. Edit; I got the scratching post and my cats just love it. The only thing that can make this post better is getting a seat for Henry to sit in, since he loves climbing on top. This post is just as awesome as the first one was. I am very pleased with howuch my cats love it and the fact it never tips over which is saying a lot when the cats are rambunctious and there are three on it trying to get to the top first. I still say if this post were 4 feet taller, my cats could climb a bit before reaching the top platform. I really have to get a seat for it. Maybe then two could be on top at the same time. Give this post a try if you have large cats, you won't be sorry and your cats will indeed love it. Amazon makes a great product! Read more
