I have endometriosis, and with that comes bouts of diarrhea and frequent trips to the bathroom. Occasionally, these gut issues will cause irritation and lead to a hemorrhoid. Ok this stuff works so! TMI but I had to use prep H & suppositories but It wasn’t going away so I ordered this med & in one day it went from a raisin to 1/3 of the size . I’ll continue to use this - hoping that doesn’t happen again for 10 years Read more
I have a number of skin conditions (cutaneous lupus, eczema, atopic dermatitis, etc) that cause pain and itching. I have a plethora of RX medications to help me cope with them. However, occasionally I have a bad month and find myself out of my RX topicals before I am eligible to fill them again. When that happens I use OTC meds. Dibucaine, Benzocaine, and Lidocaine (less than 5% is OTC Lidocaine) all work decently. Out of the OTC topicals, I like Benzocaine/Americaine the best. HOWEVER - the packaging for the Americaine needs work. A *LOT* of work. 1. The top is good - easy to get on, easy to get off, and doesn't spontaneously pop off in your purse or cabinet. 2. The container itself is very prone to leaks. As in, before you've even gone through half of it - just the slight movements of squeezing product from the bottom to the top of the container - is enough to start creating all kinds of holes. I don't mean one or two holes in a tube once in awhile - mean 5-7 holes in EVERY tube EVERY TIME. So while the product itself performs really well, the mess involved with getting the Americaine out of the tube and where you want it is just....exhausting. To the point where I am not sure that I can justify the time and expense next time I need to grab some kind of OTC to numb skin. Americaine is one of the few OTC products that truly performs as advertised - I love the ointment itself - but the packaging is beyond "just needs a little work" and unfortunately is verging into the "not sure I can deal with this mess again". :( Read more
