Great product, works well, can choose between low temperature of 175F, 190F (which actually is more like boiling at 200F). However it is quite noisy, so not my ideal choice. The noise is actually a safety feature of a built in fan, but I'd rather go for something lower power and less noise. I was looking for a slow cooker induction top, which does not exist. This product can sear, cook, and slow-cook, but there will be noise. Read more

This burner is excellent. It's very easy to adjust, heats quickly, and has a low profile, making it easy to place anywhere. It's probably the lowest profile burner on Amazon. If it were taller, it'd be difficult to place dishes on and off it. One thing I wish was that the heating element was circular instead of cross-shaped. A circular design would make it easier to place in the center without thinking. Read more

Other reviews claim this unit use A LOT of power when plugged in but turned off. I have an off-grid solar cabin. When I read the review by the gentleman who measured a .7 amp or 85-watt draw, I began unplugging it when not in use. That's more than a our refrigerator uses! However, we sometimes have guests staying there, and cannot depend on them to unplug it. However, the claimed 85-watt draw was suspect. You cannot necessarily determine watts used by multiplying volts x amps on AC circuits. Volts X amps gives volt-amps, not necessarily watts. If the circuit in question contains any reactive components (capacitors or coils) the actual consumption will be less than volts x amps would suggest. Furthermore, if the hob actually did waste 85 watts in standby, it would be quite warm to the touch. However, it is not warm at all. I ordered a $10 power meter off Amazon. Indeed, the hob draws only 0.3 amps in standby. The calculated power factor is .0035, which is too small for the meter to display. So bottom line, actual idle power consumption is very modest. Confusing technicalities aside, I am very happy with the unit, especially considering the price. Once you cook with induction, you'll never want to use anything else. My only complaint is that the default mode where you set the desired temperature is very inaccurate. This is not surprising. I use the mode where you select a power level from 1 to 20. No different than using our range at home. Read more

Really nice. I've never had one of these but wished I had. Takes guesswork out of some cooking. Especially if your frying with grease and you need your oil to stay 1 Temp. Read more

This item heats very unevenly. I have tried two separate skillets, and the unit only heats up in the upper left quadrant. The lower left doesn't produce much, or any heat. I have turned both skillets in various directions, always with the same result. Drop an egg in the upper half and it will fry up quickly, drop one in the lower portion, and it basically just sits there. Does the same when I cooked some hamburgers, and pancakes. After the grease should be sufficiently hot, flicking some water in it gives a definite response in the upper quadrant, but little reaction in the other half. The instructions are uninformative. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but I never had a similar problem with a gas stove/burner. I don't like the conventional electric burners, because they tend to warp, and the skillets/pots have to be set off of the burners because they retain heat, which this thing requires also. The choices/options for cooking are far more 'sophisticated' than necessary, and choosing the wrong option may be part of the problem I'm having, but there is nothing I've found that even addresses my problem with this device.
