I am honestly extremely impressed. I've professionally barista'd specialty coffee in Seattle and Kansas City over 8 years (Stumptown, Victrola, Thou Mayest etc.) I know what quality espresso and milk should resemble. That said.. I have almost nothing bad to say about this ~$160 espresso machine! (with 2 small exceptions): PROS: (Espresso) - temperature customization! 😲 - entire machine heats up in ~30seconds - pressure gauge works perfect - OPV valve works after every shot - metal drip tray is large, easy to remove - hefty tamper included (Steam) - boiler temperature customization! 😲 - easy and fast steam, creates silky milk - steam wand design and build is strong! - boiler temp heats up in under ~10 seconds - milk pitcher included! CONS: (Espresso) - portafilter basket COULD be upgraded later on, but that's honestly just a preference since I'm an espresso nerd 🤓 - a bottomless portafilter would've made this a 5 star for sure [just a preference] (Steam) - a handle on the steam knob would've been awesome, [just a preference] (Design) - a matte black version would be so sick! Why did you pick this product vs others?: Little too large for my espresso machine basket, it said it would fit it but I have to fill it up past a certain point which is well over a single shot if I were to want that. This machine has been a great upgrade for home coffee. The 58 mm portafilter gives it a more even extraction and the shots come out with a consistent flavor and crema. The pressure gauge is useful for dialing in grind and tamping, and the removable tank makes refilling quick without carrying the whole unit to the sink. If you enjoy making lattes or Americanos at home, this setup gets very close to café results with a small footprint on the counter. The steam wand heats fast and has enough power to texture milk for lattes and cappuccinos. Once you learn the timing you can get a silky microfoam that blends well with espresso for latte art.
