These are so much more sturdy and durable than other car mounts I have used. On other mounts, the tightening mechanisms (either on the vent clamp or the ball mechanism) always break in just a couple of months, but these are still going strong. The magnet is also a good strength, it secures the phone well but isn't difficult to remove. Based on how the vent clamp is designed, it can work on any straight AC vent, vertical or horizontal. I have had a different model of these. I love the ease of being able to just put your phone on it when you get in the car. I have never had my phone drop. It's nice when I can see my screen using mapping assistance. I haven't tried putting a tablet on one but it would probably hold a smaller thin tablet just fine. My tablet is too large and heavy. The only complaint I had is when I installed it, I had to use a flat head screw driver to carefully spread the prongs apart to get it to slide over the vent louver. It's a tight fit. I even took off all the moving parts of the device to give me more of a spread but it was still hard to open the prongs. I don't think that I will be swapping this from my car to my truck. I am sure it will do the job as it was intended other than portability. Seems to be quality material. Read more

I’ve bought quite a few of the APPS magnetic phone holders over the years, and while the magnets themselves are solid and hold up well, I’ve run into an issue with the vent attachment. The part that twists onto the AC vents tends to loosen up over time, and in some cases, it even breaks. To avoid this, I’ve switched to the adhesive versions depending on the car I drive, especially if it has a spot where the holder can be ideally positioned. Overall, the magnets are great, but the vent attachment could use some durability improvements. Read more
