I am extremely disappointed with the Aroma Professional ARC-1230B 10-cup rice cooker. I bought this model twice over the past two years, hoping for better performance the second time, but both units failed far too soon. The first unit stopped working due to electrical issues. I gave the brand another chance and bought the same model again — only to have the top latch break, making it impossible to shut the lid and cook properly. The build quality is poor — this rice cooker simply doesn’t last, even with light and careful use. A product like this should work reliably for years, not break down in different ways within such a short time. What’s even worse is the experience I had with Aroma’s warranty service. When I contacted the manufacturer, they asked for all kinds of documentation: pictures of the defective unit, proof of purchase, my Amazon order number, a photo of the manufacturer sticker on the bottom of the rice cooker, an image of the barcode, and more. After providing everything, the representative then told me I needed to cut the electrical cord in half, take a photo of the cut cord alongside the serial barcode, and send that before they would even proceed with my claim. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income. I just can’t afford to go out and buy another rice cooker while the manufacturer is taking their time processing my claim. I can’t afford to keep buying the same rice cooker over and over and let this issue remain unresolved. I was already making do by putting a weight on the lid just to keep it shut so I could cook — if I cut the cord, I wouldn’t even be able to do that while waiting. Bottom line: This product is poorly made, and the manufacturer does not stand behind it or offer reasonable warranty support. I’ve bought this model twice — that’s more than fair. I will never buy from Aroma again, and I don’t recommend this rice cooker to anyone. Read more

I have this rice cooker for about 4 years now and I just love love love it. It’s held up strong. I love it so much I gift it to just about every family member including my son’s girlfriend. It’s so simple, easy and the rice comes out so good and perfect. It keeps it warm and fresh for a long time and my stove clean. I don’t remember when was the last time I cooked rice on the stove. I highly recommend it.. I would like to get another one soon. Read more

This review comes a year after owning and using it. It is an amazing rice cooker. Definitely handles that part to perfection. My concern though is durability. The latch that opens and closes the lid isn’t that great. In about a year of use, it came off. I tried to put it back on and realign it, but it was never the same. The latch would often pop back open which made it impossible to use. Beautiful rice cooker that worked perfectly, just a horribly designed latch. Maybe other people who purchased this had better luck, but I likely won’t purchase another one because I’m afraid in another year I’ll have the same issue with the locking latch. Read more

Love the color and the rice cooker. We had our old rice cooker for a long time so we struggled to find one we wanted to try that would be comparable. This cooker is just right. It looks cool too. We have had no bad servings of rice. It works well as a slow cooker and the Teflon pot is super easy to clean. It does scratch much easier than out last pot so be careful and only use plastic spatulas or spoons for stirring or serving. Great pick. No real complaints. Good price too. Read more
