About this item

  • HAND-MADE in Poland: Leather strop for knife sharpening made from the highest quality 3mm (1/8") vegetable leather, bark-tanned in the Podhale region following the 17th-century recipe. Hardwood paddle-shaped handle made from Beechwood (Fagus sylvatica) located in Carpathian mountains forests. We use only 100% wood from a well-managed forest, as confirmed by the FSC certificate. Both are handcrafted into premium sharpening strop to keep any knife or straight razor scary sharp.
  • LARGE AND COMFORTABLE: The big size of the strop and large working surface of the stropping leather provides flexibility when polishing the blade. The length is 320mm (12.6") & width is 60mm (2.36") in total. Working area length is 206mm (8.11") x width is 56mm (2.17"). The double-sided paddle strop has smooth and rough leather to choose from according to your preferences.
  • VERSATILE AND EASY TO USE: Apply chosen polishing compound on one or both sides of leather strop. Most customers use white compounds on the rough side while green compounds on the smooth side. You might prefer coarser or finer grit. You can also leave the smooth side free of the compound for ultra-fine touch-ups. Always strop after sharpening your finest stone by pulling the blade backwards with low pressure. It is important to keep the same (or a little bit shallower) angle you sharpen at.
  • WIDE RANGE OF APPLICATIONS: This premium leather sharpening strop can be used for honing/buffing straight razors, chisels, hunting knives, pocket knives, kitchen (chefs) knives, and many other tools that need the sharpest edge possible.
  • SPECIAL HONING COMPOUNDS: Softening balm and 4 grits of special Bacher polishing compound are included. Soft and easy to apply, designed to be used especially on leather honing belts and strops. The balm softens and conditions the leather. Thanks to lanoline and beeswax additions. 7g (1/4 oz) each. Approximately grain: Red 2000 (medium), White 5000 (fine), Green 8000 (very-fine), Black 12000 (ultra-fine).

Exceptional value and quality

I never knew my kitchen knives could have a midlife crisis until I met the Bacher Premium Leather Strop. This thing is like the rejuvenation spa for blades. My chef's knife, once dull from slicing through life's toughest onions, now slices through them with such ease, the onions started crying even before I touched them. The strop's leather is so luxurious, I think my knives felt a bit underdressed. One side for roughing up the dull life, the other for polishing to a shine so bright, my cutlery could double as emergency disco balls. The polishing compound? It's like the secret sauce, or more accurately, the secret aloe vera for your blade's sunburned edge. I once left my paring knife on the strop overnight, and in the morning, it was sharp enough to shave the hair off a peach without bruising its delicate ego. My bread knife, notorious for its jagged attitude, now slices through sourdough like it's butter, and that's not even an exaggeration because my butter knife, previously a sad, blunt tool, now cuts through actual butter like... well, like butter through... you get the idea. The double-sided feature means you can go from "meh" to "wow" in one flip. It's like having two therapists for your knives - one for the hard talks and another for the feel-good sessions. My knives are now so sharp, I'm pretty sure they're plotting a coup against the blunt objects in my kitchen. If you're looking for a way to give your knives the best midlife crisis recovery, this strop is your answer. It’s not just a sharpening tool; it's a lifestyle upgrade for your cutlery. Five stars, because my knives now think they’re celebrities. Read more

Update 12/30/25: I bought a second strop, and at the recommendation of a Youtube video I decided to try out the strop with some diamond stropping compound applied to the leather after first sanding it with 120 grit sandpaper, and wow does it make a difference! The diamond compound lasts way longer than any of the waxy compound that's included does, and it not only does it remove the burr but it polishes the edge of the knife as well. My knife's edge was literally shaving hair like a barber's razor after stropping with the compound! Seriously, I really recommend you look into buying diamond compound or diamond emulsion along with this strop. I put 1 micron on the smooth side and 4 micron on the rough side, works well for me. It's a bit pricey to buy the good brands of stropping compound. But it makes a world of a difference in stropping. It really takes this Bacher strop to the next level. Original review: As the title says, this strop has allowed me to take my knives to the next level of sharpness, to get my kitchen and pocket knives slicing cleanly and removing any burrs which can cause hang ups after sharpening. I followed the instruction manual's recommendation and i put the white (fine) compound on the rougher side and green (very fine) compound on the finer side and its been working beautifully for me. Using a light touch, not putting too much pressure just basically the weight of the blade and ensuring im hitting the apex at the right angle, my knives are taken to this next level of sharpness that I'm looking for. It can also revive the edge of a knife that I can tell is getting dull from use, and maintain that edge longer before I have to sharpen it. The handle and wood is great quality, the leather is layed out very even and flat, it comes with 4 different compounds, some polishing wax, and some little paddles to help apply and spread the compound. for the price you can't beat it. Best Quality Leather / Best Choices of Honing Compund; Best Overall.

I hate writing reviews, but I just have to pass along my thoughts on the Bacher Premium Strop. In this case, your really DO get a premium product, when compared to the competition. I’ve used multiple types of strops from various competitors, but the quality of the leather (both front and back) provided on the Bacher Strop are a huge step above the leather strips currently being sold by other manufacturers. On the Bacher strop, the “rough” side is actually too smooth to be called “suede” (which, to me, denotes the kind of soft, thick, furry material, similar to that which has come with every other strop I’ve bought over the years). On the Bacher strop, the “rough” side is just “rough enough” so that the stropping compounds that come with the kit will easily adhere to the leather and spread consistently over the surface. But it does not cause the rough side to become too soft and furry with repetitive usage over time. Bacher has chosen leather that perfectly hits the sweet spot between “not too hard” and “not too soft” for stropping and honing your knives to razor sharpness. Up until now, I have been using the “smooth side” of the strop bare (the leather; not me — especially around razor sharp knives, ;-), without applying any stropping compound at all on the leather. However (just because I’m curious), I plan to open the BLACK, 12,000 Grit “Ulltra-fine” compound that came with the kit, and apply it on the smooth side of the leather and see how that works. I’ve actually been so impressed and happy with the Bacher Premium Strop that I bought a 2nd one to keep on hand as a replacement if/when my current one becomes lost or wears out over time. Considering you also get 5 different types of stropping compounds along with it, it truly is a smart purchase for a great product. Read more

Nice, cheap, but DO NOT use the included compounds. Get diamond compounds for better results.

Great Strop - but comes with compounds you SHOULDN'T use. The compounds are too thick and will clump as well as they have a bunch of grits, but you should ONLY put on one compound per side and just buy multiple strops instead of trying tor cut or sand off the old compound. The back works well, but the front is a little stiff to absorb diamond compound. I hit it with 140 grit good 3M sandpaper to roughen and it took up compound much better. I personally recommend 4um (~3500 grit equivalent) and 1um (~12,000 grit equivalent) 4 Stars because it would be better if they took away the un needed plastics and compounds in exchange for a lower price or some other utility. Otherwise really nice for the price. Read more
