I live where the air hurts my face in the winter, and this balaclava provides an extra layer of protection from fierce winter winds. I ended up turning it inside out so the softer fleece is on my face which felt good. This is just thick enough to be warm, but not add bulk around my neck to make it difficult to zip up my coat. I can see this working for a brisk 50 degree morning with mild winds, but not for the 10-30 degree weather with stronger winds I’m dealing with right now. I get that it can’t be too thick so you don’t sweat too much and can breath under it, but the fabric won’t buffer very cold air. It’s a lot thinner than it looks in the pictures, not sports fleece. The fit is also very tight around the nose and I’m not a large or tall person. I’d pay maybe $4.99 for it at most. I would have probably kept it for early spring weather if it was half the price it is. At nearly $10 I didn’t expect luxurious fabric, but better than I got. Maybe I’m being harsh and expected too much for the price. You live and learn. Read more
