I recently purchased the BN-LINK Smart WiFi Heavy Duty Outdoor Outlet specifically to manage the Christmas lights on my house, and it has been an absolute game-changer! I store all of my smart devices under the Smart Life app, so I was thrilled when this outlet integrated perfectly without any additional apps or hassle. This smart plug is incredibly easy to set up, and the fact that it’s compatible with both Alexa and Google Assistant makes it even more convenient. I was able to sync it with my voice-controlled devices, and now I can turn my Christmas lights on and off with just a simple command like, "Alexa, turn on the Christmas lights." The best feature for me has been the scheduling function. I’ve set the lights to automatically turn on at dusk and off at sunrise, and it works flawlessly every day. This scheduling function saves me time and ensures the lights are never left on for too long. There’s also a countdown timer that I’ve used when I want the lights to go off after a specific time—super helpful if I’m hosting guests or when I’m out and don’t want to leave them on all night. I also love how durable this smart plug is. With IP44 weatherproofing, it has held up through some rainy and windy weather without any issues. The heavy-duty construction feels solid, and the 6.8-inch cord gives me plenty of room to reach outdoor outlets, making placement really flexible. Oct/Nov 2022: Just what I needed for our outdoor Xmas lights. I will say that I personally struggled to get them to connect via the BN Link app and Alexa. I got frustrated and gave them over to my hubby to mess with. I will say that I am using an iphone 8 and he is using an iphone 12 so that may be the issue as I am usually the more patient one. He was able to get them to connect quickly with no issues and we have them connected to our Alexa. We have no issues, and they are all working great. Cut to November 2024: We have used these plugs for all the major holidays that we decorate the front of our house for the last 2 years. When we decorated for Halloween, I noticed that one of the plugs wasn't working properly so we replaced it, thankfully we had a spare. Now we have decorated for Xmas and one of the other plugs isn't working, not in the same way as the other one stopped working. This is one of the three outlets of the plug isn't working as it should. If you wiggle the plug then it will work but that doesn't work for outdoor lighting, so I have decided to replace it. Anyways I still struggled with hooking up the new plugs as before, but I think it is more that I needed to make sure I was using the lower Ghz. Anyways, I will say that I am not happy that I am only getting 2 years of work out of these plugs but when they work properly they are fantastic. And once you get them set up on the BN-Link app, they are super easy to get set up on the Alexa app. So yes I will buy again and clearly I have. Read more

I purchased my first unit in November of 2019 and was very happy with how user friendly it was. I purchased a second one in November of 2022 and had the same experience. Both were easy to set up and worked perfectly with my SmartLife app. Recently I went to my previous orders and searched for the item to purchase a third. Unfortunately selecting the link to purchase again brought me to this item which is made by the same manufacturer but is definitely not the same model. I figured it was just an updated version. Immediately after plugging this new one in I had issue after issue getting it set up and trying to make it work with both the SmartLife app and the BN-Link app. The newest one does not want to link to SmartLife no matter how you initiate a connection and getting it to connect using the BN-Link app is a bear. I thought maybe it was a defective unit so I setup a return and had a new one sent. Exactly the same problems persisted. Like others have said, this seems to only connects using Bluetooth but you can't use Bluetooth to run a schedule with the outlet. Online guides are useless and the instructions that come in the box leave much to be desired. This device doesn't support WiFi direct or Hotspot mode. Getting the WiFi to connect and stay connected to a network is extremely difficult. Once I finally got everything "working" and got a schedule set I quickly discovered that the schedule is extremely unreliable. One day it switches on at the correct time, the next three days it doesn't switch on at all unless I am close enough for the BT to connect and I manually switch it on from my phone. Most days it won't switch on correctly and it never turns off when scheduled to turn off. Bottom line, this newer version is terrible, unreliable and just plain doesn't work. Read more

Worked as intended for my outdoor Christmas lights. Schedules in the app works well too. Little tip when setting up. Do it via Bluetooth. Not WiFi. It'll still connect to the Wi-Fi via Bluetooth. I think that's where most people are having difficulty when setting up. You can then turn it on/off remotely even when in other states! Either that or just set up schedules. Read more
