This is a excellent sling. I do want to offer a heads up on this package, though. Don't toss the accessories in a closet and forget about them. As I initially used the sling without them, I later figured out the accessories really do add benefits. For example, I initially thought the Velcro-attached arm support pillow was just a gimmick, so I tossed it in the closet. Later, I figured out that when wearing only the sling, my arm was swinging out from my body a few inches then bouncing into me during rhythmic walking. Each time it bumped me, I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder. I endured that for a day with the result that my shoulder was very irritated by the time I took the sling off. I admit I was already debating whether to use the sling anymore. Then, I thought of the foam pillow support and wondered if it might help somehow. I added it to the sling the next morning just to see if it would help. Once it was on, I noticed it pushes your forearm outward and upward at a slight angle, so that your arm is basically resting on the top front edge of the pillow. As I walked, I noticed that the change in angle plus the pull of gravity kept my arm from swinging away from my body. In fact, it didn't move at all. So, I had no more sharp pains. Needless to say, the pillow is attached every time I use it now. It's a bit bulky and you need to be more aware moving through tight areas, but eliminating those stabbing shoulder pains is worth it. The ball was another item I didn't expect I would use. However, after realizing the pillow turned out to be critical, I decided to keep the ball with me until I figured out why I needed it. I just kept the ball inside the sling on top of my wrist. After a few hours, I realized my arm below the elbow was feeling slightly chilled. When I touched the skin, it was even a little cool to the touch. I thought about it and realized it was probably due to the reduced blood flow resulting from my arm being completely immobilized for hours. When it was swinging, the bumping and movement must have kept the blood flowing a bit better. Without any movement, the blood flow stagnated. So, my body was having a tougher time warming the arm up as normal. Nodding to myself, I thought "That must be why they included the ball." I just pulled the foam ball out, stuck it into the hand on my immobilized arm, and began squeezing it. Within perhaps 45 seconds, I could feel warmth coming back. I just left it in my hand and squeezed it a few times every time I thought of it. So, I do recommend this sling, as it turned out to be well worth the extra money versus cheaper slings. It's made well. I have had no problems with it since I got it. And the accessories turned out to be well-thought-out additions which improved the performance of the basic sling significantly. Overall, I'm very pleased that I decided to go with this sling. Excellent purchase. Read more

This is a much better sling than my hospital gave to me post shoulder surgery. My PT prefers this one. Here are notes for others: Sling is long enough for even tall/long forearms to get proper support; thumb brace is adjustable and keeps arm from sliding forward; solid construction. Things I wish were different: over shoulder strap only has a clip in front - which can be difficult to operate after surgery- and has a Velcro adjustment in back — these should be reversed so you can easily adjust the shoulder sling strap as needed. The mesh sling is a very dense material making it quite warm. A lighter mesh would be more comfortable. Read more

It’s comfortable. I wish the waist strap was adjustable with the patients free hand but it is still comfortable Read more

The immobilizer I was discharged from the hospital with ended up being more painful and irritating to my skin, back, neck, and mood by post op day 5. I had to slap lidocaine patches all around my forearm to even tolerate the feeling of the fabric once my nerve block from anesthesia wore off. It is now post op day 11 and I can finally feel relief knowing sleep will be possible once again. If you are a woman on the border of M/L with your measurements --go for the medium because it fits so nicely. Very easy to slip on and off. I ordered this because I knew I was about to have a mental breakdown for the next 2.5 months before the next surgery. The velcro and fasting device I had on my original immobilizer gave way/became loose from all the constant adjustments I made 20 times a night trying to find some position I could sleep even 2 hrs in. The main thing for me is the way my forearm feels in this sling. The material and sewing lines or whatever in the last immobilizer broke down and felt like mosquito netting grinding on met arm no matter how much I tried to adjust it. The immobilization model of this device is sturdy and I know 30 days from now wont look like its falling apart at the seams. Read more

Purchased this particular sling for my broken arm/shoulder injury. I was looking to immobilize my shoulder and get relief that an ordinary sling would not give me. I’ve been wearing this sling for about one hour and I feel so much relief. It’s very well-made. Read more

This sling was more substantial, more adjustable and more comfortable than the sling provided by the surgeon. No flimsy, "non-woven" fabric. Generously sized hook-and-loop tabs. Easier to adjust when wearing. Made being injured less "painful". ;^) Read more

I purchased this item to wear post rotator cuff surgery mainly because it comes with an attached pillow. The sling is very heavy and bulky and was very uncomfortable. I also experienced more pain when I had it on. It’s well made, but did not work for me. Read more
