My old braun 5 series was still going strong but the braun blades were costing over $50. So, after 16 years I bought a new 5 series. Man, this things cuts my beard twice as fast and closer than the old one. Since I'm 75 i just hope I last as long as this new braun 5. Read more

Don't let it Grow any further than a stubble or it won't cut it. For the price I was not impressed at all my $20 beard trimmer had a closer shave. Only reason I'm giving it a three-star was because if you have a stubble it will shave clean cut and it is self-cleaning Read more

Very disappointed with this Braun shaver. I've used Braun shavers for years and expected the same reliable performance, but this one fell short. It takes a long time—over 10 minutes of active shaving—to get a decent, close shave. I suffer from Pseudofolliculitis barbae (razor bumps and skin irritation), so I need a shaver that delivers a good shave without leaving stubble, as I prefer not to grow a beard. I bought this hoping it would match or exceed my old Braun, but it didn't. By the time I realized it was causing me more skin problems than it solved, the return window had closed. If you're considering this shaver and have sensitive skin or similar issues, test it thoroughly right away. Return it as soon as possible if it doesn't work well for you—don't wait like I did. I have used a Series 3 for years. I kept reading the reviews that there wasn't much difference between the Series 3 and Series 5. With differences in cost and no return policy I just couldn't justify making the purchase. I did however and boy am I glad I did. The big difference is the smooth shave with no pulling of the whiskers, no cuts everything is smooth. You may still have to shave the shave spot several times but it's smooth and gentle the second pass. Read more
