I got one of these, which ended up being defective. Before I even used the blender, I noticed the jug had a few hairline cracks in it. I tried the blender maybe 5 times before the replacement came. The first time I used the cleaning function, it did 2 blending cycles of 10 seconds each followed by a third blending cycle of 13 seconds and then it stopped automatically. But the next 4 times I used the cleaning function, it just ran a non-stop blending cycle for over a minute and I had to stop it manually. The cleaning function just stopped working properly after that first time. I've used the replacement blender a couple times now, and the cleaning function is working properly so far with the 3 cleaning cycles and automatic stoppage. EDIT: After using the replacement blender maybe 8 times now, the cleaning function no longer works as before - it just keeps going forever and I have to stop it manually. I've been making fruit slushies with the blender. The ice crush setting will get the job done, but it's a manual process. After blending the ice cubes and fruit and water for a few seconds, an air pocket will almost always form on top of the blade, and then you have to push the ice down using the tamper. You can use the tamper while the blender is running, but I didn't want to push down too hard on the ice for fear of damaging the blade, so I usually turned off the blender and used the tamper gently. I'd have to do several cycles of blending, stopping, pressing down ice, and repeating until I got the slushie consistency I wanted. The blender will eventually get the job done and makes a really nice slushie, but it's not "press the button and you don't have to do anything" - you have to do some work. I read about other very popular blender brands having rubber gaskets that are very difficult to clean and get mold growing in the nooks and crannies. From what I can tell, this blender doesn't seem to have any rubber parts in the jug near the blade. There is a rubber ring that goes around the inside of the lid onto which bits of food can get stuck, but you can easily pull off that ring to clean it if necessary. The power cord seems really short. I like this blender. It's easy to use and effective. Gets the lumps out of my smoothies. And the self-cleaning feature where you just put water and dish soap in it and run on the special setting is fantastic. Never had that before and I really like it. Read more
