Breathing Exercise Device Non-Measuring Exerciser Portable Lung Exerciser with Adjustable Resistance Flutter Valve Respiratory Muscle Trainer for Mucus

This is marketed as a breathing training device or better known as oscillatory positive expiratory pressure (OPEP) device primarily used in respiratory therapy to help clear mucus from the lungs. This device works by oscillating back and forth as you blow into it. That can help to loosen the mucus and help you cough it up. I received this product at a very timely moment as flu season was in full swing leaving plenty of mucus in my lungs. You start off by making a good seal with your mouth on the blowing nozzle. You inhale slowly and exhale steadily and slowly. You should feel the oscillations as you breathe and that's what helps to loosen up the mucus. If you're blowing too hard, you may want to increase the resistance or decrease the resistance until you can feel it steadily. After doing this cycle 10 or 15 times, do a few good coughs to bring up the mucus that you've loosened and get it out. Taking the case off is fairly easy with just two pull tabs. However, once apart I found that the internals are held together by a torx screw. As you can see from my photo, rather than removing that I simply submerge the entire thing in warm soapy water. After a few days. I soaked the parts in isopropyl. I found that in order to fully dry out the device, I needed to blow through several times and remove any of the trace moisture. Thankfully, I live in a fairly dry part of the country and this wasn't too much of a problem. In terms of efficacy, I found that this device worked exactly like I was hoping to and it really helped to clear up mucus during the day. I would use this in the mornings and I would feel much clearer going forward. I think this is a good product to have in your medicine cabinet for when bronchitis or the seasonal flu comes through. This is a "flutter" breathing trainer device in color "deep green", from Willnice. Included are various attachments to work with nebulizers, which I can't speak to as I don't need them. I used to get lung congestion a lot and I was actually prescribed something like this many years ago but couldn't figure out where to get one and ended up not getting it, so when I saw this I decided to order it and see what it's like. It could not be easier to use, just set the resistance using a simple lever, put your mouth around the mouthpiece, and exhale (how hard depends on how you set the resistance). Exhaling causes the device to make your chest sort of vibrate. I feel like the plastic this is made from feels pretty cheap and I particularly think the resistance lever could break fairly easily, so that is a concern. Aside from the cheap feel though, this works pretty much as expected and seems like it will be helpful for respiratory health and loosening mucus. I feel like the highest resistance level is still not very high though, and it seems like a bit more resistance would be good. This does need to be cleaned regularly, and I have found that it is very simple to disassemble and clean. All in all, I do like this device and will continue to use it. Read more

Health and wellness are important to me. I use different techniques to encourage myself to do more self-care especially when I am feeling stressed. Breathing exercises are a part of that which is why I ordered this. MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE PRODUCT 1. This comes with 1 non-measuring breathing trainer. It comes pretty much assembled. I just had to connect the mouthpiece to the body. 2. It is made of plastic and it is very light. It does feel sturdy to me. I have used a few before and this one looks like it could last a while. 3. I like that it has instructions on how to open it so that it can be disassembled and soaked. They encourage alcohol. The instructions say to basically disassemble for cleaning after each use. I use breathing trainers throughout the day. I can wipe the mouthpiece with alcohol but I cannot break it down after each use. I will most likely soak it at night following the instructions. 4. There is an adjustment wheel. It takes a little bit of pressure but it adjusts the opening. This breathing machine rattles a little bit. The box says it helps with dislodging, but I am not sure how because I only feel the rattling on my face. 5. I try to keep the rattling throughout the time I am exhaling so I can adjust the dial to achieve that. 6. There are vents for the air to escape. 7. This doesn’t come with a cloth bag. 8. I am able to do a few sets of breathing a few times a day. I also use it for when I am winding down for bed as it relaxes me. I appreciate the size of the mouthpiece since I typically use pendant breathing trainers. OVERALL IMPRESSION: I think that this non-measuring breathing trainer is cost-effective and worth its value if you are one of the people this is targeted for to include those who want to use this as a wellness tool.
