Ironically I returned this item even though it was not for any reason you would expect. I discovered I already had such an item in my possession and didn't know it. So I gave my single shot double wall filter a whirl. My first impressions are that it actually improves the shot (smoother, less bitter) and certainly does no harm. Thus, I think I can recommend it.
