Healthier living with Brita

cbokayJanuary 27, 2023

This dandy little water filter will save me oodles of money from all the bottled water I have purchased over the years. Plus I no longer have to deal with recycling. Yeah, on that. And I like that it's small and doesn't take up a lot of room in the kitchen sink. It taste okay (for plain water) and I feel safe knowing the filter will keep contaminants out of my body. I'm glad I bought it and highly recommend this product for healthier living. UPDATE: 19 Feb 2023 I've been using this Brita close to one month. Now, in the past week, it has dripped water from the regular faucet side when I have the filtered faucet side on. And the water looks cloudy and leaves a frosted residue in bottom of my glass pot. I've cleaned the pot with a solution of white vinegar and water. But I shouldn't have to do that every two weeks. That's nuts. I'm going to try a different washer and see if that clears up the leak problem. If not, I'll need to contact the company and maybe return the product. Read more

★★★★☆

Works great but I have one complaint.

R. BlueJune 19, 2011

I am writing a review on the whole system but it also applies to the replacement filters as well. I have had the same experience with every filter I have used from the very first day I bought my system. I have used this product for almost 2 years now and I have to say that I am very pleased with the quality of product and the taste of my water. After I installed the item the first time it worked well for about 2 months and then started to leak around the seal. I removed the whole thing and reinstalled it nice and tight, never had a problem since. There are 2 functions that I love about the Brita On Tap system. 1.)The choice of spray or regular stream coming out of the faucet (not including the filtered water). This was why I decided to purchase this over other items that are similar priced. 2.) The swivel arm for the filter makes it very convenient to move the filter out of the way while doing dishes or for any other reason you need it to move positions. It can be a bit cumbersome looming over your sink compared to just having the faucet so this makes it nice when you need it out of your way. I found the installation to be quite easy considering I am not the handiest man out there. Other than the one issue with it leaking the installation has been perfect. My water before using this system had a bad taste I noticed most when cooking. If I boiled noodles or anything else the bad taste was most noticeable, however, my drinking water was not the best tasting either. This Brita has fixed that problem completely. I do not have much background in science or water so I can't tell you what it removed or hasn't removed but I can assure you that I have not one bad taste in my filtered water. And my filtered water taste clean for a long time after the indicator light comes on telling me to change the filter. Which brings me to my only complaint. The company says these filters are good for 100 gallons. They have installed a indicator light to tell you when it is no longer working, green is good, red is bad. Typically my green light stays on for only a few weeks, long before 100 gallons. I know how much water I use because I fill the same amount every single day (1.5 gal/day) and only use more than that occasionally. The light switches to red before I use 50 gallons typically. I continue to use the same filter until I think I have used a hundred gallons and then switch and that system has worked for me. My biggest problem is why would the company put a light on there if they know it is not accurate? The only reason I can think of is to get people to purchase filters early so they sell more. I am not a fan of that. I would recommend this filter if you are looking for a lower priced water filtration system that doesn't take up a lot of room. Like every good product out there, if you buy one and get it home and seems to be far off from the majority of reviews it is probably defective or not installed correctly. I am reminding you that if you have a problem with this I can assure you that this product works great for it's intended use and you should return the one you have for a new one if you seem to be having major problems. That is one benefit from doing business with Amazon, they are very easy to work with and want their customers to be happy. Read more

Heed the 1-star warnings. Cheap junk. Damaged my faucet.

KathrynJune 2, 2017

Wanted a filter to appease my feelings about drinking the ingredients in tap water, and found this on a search. Saw the 5 star reviews and was like, boom. Ordered. Hardly read much besides 5 min of the front page, maybe page 2 of reviews. I’m an idiot. I wish so much that I hadn’t ordered and had listened to the 1 star reviews. First of all, if you really really research water purification (which I admittedly did not), you will learn and gain knowledge on how you’re wasting time and money on this kind of system. But the actual product review: Installed just fine, literally a 5 min installation. Ripped open the package, unscrewed the little thing off the faucet and voila. Turned it on! Water did taste drastically different! I really liked it. The water pressure was a bit wonky coming out of such a small concentrated spout on the thing itself, but I just lived with it and just always adjusted and turned down the faucet. After a few months, the indicator turned red, replaced it, just fine. Kept working, for another month or so. Gradually, this is what happened to my faucet: When you’re using it, it is kind of a bulky piece. It might not seem so looking at the dimensions but it definitely is kind of a honking thing on the end of your faucet. When you use it, you twist a knob on the side on the filter. So, there is constant use and very slight pressure on the most outward head of your faucet, not great for point of pressure to be consistently being touched. I don't understand coming from a physics standpoint how you would actually design something like this without fear of leaks with the weight distribution. We rent our house but the faucet itself and kitchen is new (2014 bought) Moen faucet now leaks from the base of the faucet from the use of this filter. At least I’m blaming that because we never had a problem before and I HATE this stupid thing. When I started noticing the leaking from the base of the faucet, I didn’t hate this thing yet, I just thought ah, well the faucet’s weird it’s 2 years old, I don’t know anything about faucets blah blah, it must need tightening or something (I’m an idiot) so I put in a work order and asked the landlord to come look at it. Then, no joke, a week later, the filter totally soaked and sprayed the kitchen from the base of the filter. Still, being dumb, I thought the filter was just loose for whatever reason. And maybe it got hit with a pan or something, and got something is off in there. Taking it apart and readjusting didn’t work so I bought another filter. The same thing happened. Then the landlord handyman came to look at the leaky faucet, and basically told me I was an idiot for having one of these “contraptions” and they’re completely made 100 percent of plastic. He was kind enough to help an old lady out and take it apart and basically say, ma’am. You’re wrecking your faucet (and by the way, not my faucet-we rent) and to take it off and “get ur money back from wally world” and showed me pieces of stripped dollar store quality plastic and how the connections were just cheap junk. Wish I could take this back, kind dude. I hate this thing. I do have one pro though: you are able to throw it in your recycle bin after the 1-3 month lifespan! All plastic! : ) Read more
