Caffe Mercanti ESE Pod Espresso Machine 44mm Single-Serve Coffee Maker 15 Bar White

This was my first experience with the Mercanti pods, which make a great espresso with a good amount of crema. The price is unbeatable and you don't have to sacrifice on quality. The espresso is smooth, full bodied (I prefer this stronger kind of espresso), and the flavor is excellent. I highly recommend the Mercanti pods. I should add that I'm picky about my espresso. I was skeptical about buying a product with only five reviews, even if they were all 5 stars, but I took a chance and I was rewarded for it. I’ve been using cafe barbone for the last six months and it’s been wonderful but when I went to buy more I found there were new ese pods on the market and this one had 5 stars and was cheaper for the same amount. I have been buying the iLilly expresso pods and they taste wonderful, but were getting expensive so I bought this looking for a less expensive alternative. I am not sure what is up with all of the positive reviews but this was the most bitter, stale tasting coffee I have ever put in my mouth.....AND it's non-returnable so now I am stuck with an entire box of these nasty pods. The manufacturers/producer of this item proved to be highly sensitive and responsive to their product’s performance. They contacted me after reading my poor review and offered to make things right by refunding me the cost of the item. So as to not throw coffee away, I open the pods (messy/ tedious) and empty them into a coffee jar and use it as loose grains. I was pleasantly surprise at how delicious my cup of coffee tasted this way. Great to know you are dealing with a company that stands behind its product, customer satisfaction, and image. I normally don't review items, but these Oro ESE pods produce bitter Espresso. I use filtered water as with the other espressos I've been making for 2 years, with used 8-9 other 'brands' of ESE pods and all produced a decent espresso shot with good crema and most are very good. I've tried to like this coffee, but in my opinion it's bitter and the crema that it does produce is thin and vanishes within 15-20 seconds. I drink strong coffee and espresso so I ordered 2 boxes, so this 1-2/3 boxes (250 pods) ESE would only be used to make latte's and I drink espresso. Read more

It seems like about one in ten is filled with 80 percent sawdust and 20 percent coffee. When I use a good one the aroma is delicious, the color is dark and rich , and the flavor is terrific. But when I see the light blonde juice come trickling out I know I can toss that one and start over. Not such a big deal, but effectively adds 10 percent to the cost. Read more

Excellent value in this huge box of individually packaged ese pods that work great with my ese compatible machine. Couldn't be easier use and makes a good strong cup of espresso. I don't like the burnt taste of some espressos like Starbucks and would say these compare to a more mild brand like Lavazza. Read more

I love my morning espresso! I didn't like the time I spent grinding, pressing, making & cleaning every cup! I went to where I knew I could find a quality "pod" and I DID! I love everything about these, PERIOD! quick, clean, economical and the flavor is FANTASTIC! I have at least 2 cups every single morning except when we are not at home! Most of the time I will use a 20 oz. cup, pour in flavored creamer, pour in espresso and top off with coffee and you have a wonderful start of the day! I thought I'd try it once and I've now ordered twice and will continue to order!
