This is now the only nondairy milk I will buy. It is literally the ONLY ORGANIC, NONDAIRY milk with ONLY NATURAL, NORMAL INGREDIENTS in it sold in most grocery stores. I have literally wasted way too much time looking at every nondairy milk option in the grocery store trying to find a safe option. Every other product and every other brand out there has multiple chemicals, preservatives and additives in their nondairy milk and I just have an extremely hard time feeding that garbage to my loved ones. You would think the other Califia Farms nondairy milk products would also be “safe” and on the same caliber as this one, but they are not. In fact they are far from it. However the Califia Farms organic almond milk is also very safe and just like this option - only containing water, salt and oats or almonds. My husband read something about almond milk not being good for you, or creating some kind of a chemical reaction inside your body, and he requested we switched to a different type of nondairy milk, so I was excited when I found this healthy option. It is definitely pricey, but for me it’s hard to put a price on health. I plan to actually make my own homemade oat milk. Supposedly it’s quite simple, 4 cups of ice cold water (not ice, just ice cold), 1 cup of whole rolled oats. Add salt, vanilla, dates, honey, etc if you like for added flavor/taste, blend. Then strain using a cheesecloth. Then double strain. Apparently the act of double straining helps prevent the oat milk from getting/developing a gummy texture. This recipe should last at least five days in the fridge. it’s best to store it in a sealed/closed mason jar, or similar. The only downside with the homemade recipe is the minimal amount of time it takes, the cleanup I guess, but most of all the fact that it only lasts five days. we don’t consume that much nondairy milk in my home so I could see it bad before we used it up. that’s why I have been purchasing Califia Farms Organic Oat Milk. but heck, if there’s isn’t going bad and getting gummy then why should mine considering it has all the same ingredients?? I love this Califia Farms Organic OAT milk. It has only three ingredients. It doesn't have gums, additives, weirdness or oils. Why would I want to DRINK oil? Yes the flavor is very mild and it is thin but personally I would rather have that than something thicker with more flavor that is that way because of garbage I don't want to put in my body. It works for my smoothies, herbal teas, and eggs so I'm happy. It's the least costly I've found. Now to the two downsides. It's in plastic and this huge bizarrely shaped bottle. I have not been able to eat daily for years now. This is hands down the best alternative milk I have found. After testing many I realized how different they were, which led me to look at the ingredients. Most have SO many and all these oils. No wonder this one is the best, it's only 3 ingredients and organic. I put it in everything from mashed potatoes, to coffee, to cereal. I do wish it was not in a plastic bottle, but recycle it after a rinse. Read more
