These were packed with the utmost care. I've never received knives packed so nicely before. Each knife comes with a hard plastic tip cover, a cardboard sheeth, tissue and plastic wrapping, then packaged tightly together in boxes. I was very impressed just initially by this. The block is super solid and heavy, just what I would expect to store such luxurious knives in. The tilt on it makes it a little larger than I'd prefer for my kitchen space, but it works. My husband and I have always wanted Damascus Steel knives, and I'm glad we waited, because these are absolutely stunning. The steel folds in each blade in subtle, while still making an impact, especially in lighting. These knives have heft, but are balanced in such a way that they are a pleasure to hold, and don't hurt my hands or wrists, even with prolonged use. The hilts remind me of a samurai sword, and honestly I can see them being used as such, if they were longer! These are not knives for the faint of heart; they're razor sharp and will slice through anything you put under their blades. I truly mean that. I've cut potatoes, onions and some meat so far with these, and the knife I used cut through it all like butter. I recently used the bread knife as well for my homemade sourdough bread and I really, really wish I'd had such a sharp knife for cutting bread sooner! You will want to use great care when using these. I knew they would be sharp, but these are crazy sharp, and I'm not mad about it. Definitely DO NOT put these in your dishwasher, let them sit in your sink, or leave them in water. That's not to say they will rust, but any steel will when left to moisture. If you plan to invest in these (or any quality knives, for that matter), be prepared to wash them and dry them by hand, and as soon as you can after you're finished using them. Make sure they are totally dry before putting them back in the block. This way, you prolong the life of your set as long as possible. This set should last many, many, many years with proper care. I am so pleased that I sprung for this set. Yes, it's very pricey, but you're paying for quality that will last a lifetime, given the proper care. I have probably spent more than this over the years on other knife block sets (the last one was a few hundred dollars) and they all have worn out terribly and chipped (even with proper care). I knew that the next time I got a set, that I would invest so it would be the last one I ever bought. This is that set, and I'm absolutely loving it. This is a wonderful, luxe quality knife set that is a true asset to any cook's kitchen; it has pretty much all you need for any slicing/dicing/cutting you need to do! Read more

I bought this 12-piece Cangshan KURO set for my wife because the old mismatched knives we had in the kitchen were getting dull and dangerous. After using them for a few weeks, I’m giving the set a five-star rating because the quality of the steel is immediately apparent the moment you pick one up. These aren't those flimsy knives you find at a big-box store; they have a serious weight and balance to them that makes you feel like you’re using a real tool. What I like most is the edge on these blades. That Damascus steel is incredibly sharp right out of the box. I’ve used the chef’s knife to prep dinner for my two daughters, and it slices through heavy root vegetables and thick cuts of meat like they aren't even there. Even when I’m just cutting up a little piece of chicken for Joy, our Maltipoo, the precision is impressive. The handles have a comfortable, secure grip that fits well in a larger hand, which I appreciate. The dark wood block also looks sharp on the counter and doesn't take up an unnecessary amount of space. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the maintenance, though it’s expected with high-carbon steel. You can't just toss these in the dishwasher or leave them soaking in the sink unless you want to ruin them. You have to wash and dry them by hand immediately. As for the value, it’s a lot of money to drop on kitchen knives, but considering the build quality, these will likely be the last knives we ever need to buy. If you take care of them, they’ll last a lifetime, which makes the high price tag a solid investment in my book. Read more

I’ll start by saying everything arrived exactly as shown in the pictures, nothing broken, dented, or chipped. The packaging was nicely branded and thoughtfully presented, which I always point out because it matters. When a brand puts care into both the product and the presentation, I definitely notice. Whether you’re buying for yourself or as a gift, that kind of detail makes a difference , it’s not just tossed in a plastic bag like some no-name gear. Now, I’ve recently been gradually turning into a knife enthusiast and collector, so as soon as I saw this set, I didn’t hesitate to grab it. The design instantly caught my eye, that elegant dark tone, the damascus pattern that shifts beautifully in the light, and the overall balance of the knives just feels premium. The blades are made from X-7 Damascus Steel, which is Cangshan’s proprietary steel and comparable to VG10. (For anyone who knows knives, that’s a solid mid-to-high-end steel, it holds an edge really well, is easy to sharpen, and has great rust resistance.) It’s a big step up from the cheaper steels that dull quickly and lose their edge after a few uses. Only time will tell how it holds up long term, but so far, these feel incredibly sharp and well-finished. Each knife feels well-balanced in hand, and the G-10 handles have that perfect blend of grip and comfort, not slippery, not bulky, just right. The mosaic rivet is a nice touch, adding a bit of luxury to the overall look. This 12-piece set covers everything: chef’s knife, bread knife, santoku, steak knives, paring knife, utility knife, honing steel, shears, and a matching wood block that ties everything together. It’s both functional and display-worthy. Overall, these knives are beautifully made, impressively sharp, and feel like something you definitely wouldn't regret paying for. The craftsmanship, balance, and attention to detail make it clear that Cangshan takes pride in what they produce. Whether you’re just getting into quality knives or adding to a collection, this set definitely earns a spot on the counter. Read more
