You know how every household has that one product that quietly holds everything together? For me, that’s Cheer Liquid Laundry Detergent. It doesn’t scream for attention with fancy packaging or 17-syllable fragrance names like “Moonlit Jasmine Waters.” Nope! Cheer just shows up, does the job, and somehow makes your clothes smell like they’ve been line-dried by angels wearing fresh cotton. First off, this stuff is dependable. Whether it’s gym clothes that could legally qualify as biological weapons or your favorite shirt that’s been through more emotional trauma than a soap opera character, Cheer handles it all. My colors stay bright, my whites stay respectable, and everything smells like I’ve actually got my life together, which, let’s be honest, is the real reason we do laundry in the first place. The 92-ounce bottle promises 64 loads, and I believe it. It lasts forever, even when I get generous with the pour (which, according to the measuring cap, is every single time). It’s HE-compatible, so my washer loves it too, and I never have to worry about leftover residue or fading fabrics. If laundry detergents had personalities, Cheer would be that effortlessly cool friend who always smells amazing, never judges, and somehow makes you feel better about your bad habits. It doesn’t brag, and it performs. Bottom line? Cheer deserves more credit. It’s the reliable workhorse of laundry day, quietly keeping your wardrobe clean, colorful, and just the right amount of fresh. Five stars, infinite loads of gratitude, and one very happy laundry room. Great size, and no issues with leakage! Read more

I’ve been using Cheer for what feels like forever—over 30 years now. Back when it was first available as a powder detergent, it was already ahead of its time, designed to work in all water temperatures. Eventually, Cheer released a liquid version, which I switched to after the powder became difficult to find. What Cheer excels at—and what keeps me coming back—is its ability to preserve the color and integrity of clothes. Reds, blues, blacks, and yellows all stay vibrant wash after wash. It even seems to help reduce pilling. I have shirts and sweaters from Brooks Brothers, Ralph Lauren, and Lacoste that have been through countless washes and still look great over 10 years after I bought them. Cheer is the only detergent I’ve found that consistently keeps colors from fading. I’ve tried Tide several times, and while it’s great at stain removal, it doesn’t offer the same level of color protection. Cheer strikes a great balance—it cleans well and protects your clothes. And honestly, that’s what most of us really want from a detergent. Amazon keeps prompting me to mention the scent, so here it is: It’s a light, clean, fresh scent. It did change around 2020, but it’s still subtle and pleasant—not overpowering. Bottom line: You can’t go wrong with Cheer if you want your clothes to last and look good over time. Just be aware that for tough stains, you may need to pre-treat. Otherwise, this detergent does a fantastic job. Read more

I have been using this product for many years. I think it does a better job than a regular laundry detergent for keeping the darks looking good and not fading them out. I noticed this with blue jeans and some dark shirts. I used to buy this at my grocery store but they stopped carrying it. Too many other brands for the space they have. Plus even the bigger grocery stores stopped carrying it. Another brand (TIDE) had taken over their shelves with the 30 different varieties of laundry detergent they must pay the grocery store extra to put their product on their shelves . Read more

I mostly wear darks and Woolite was the only thing I could find over the years designed to protect against fading while cleaning well. Finally I came across Cheer for darks, which is just as good without the price gouging. Goodbye Woolite--I won't miss you. Read more
