This is the REAL DEAL!! Buy it and throw away your ice packs!

I came across this cold therapy system while shopping for supplies to have on-hand to help during recovery after a total hip replacement surgery I underwent in April. Ice packs in the size I was looking for seemed to start around $50 and it was suggested I buy 2-4, since I would need to rotate these as they thawed. After a quick review of the Kinryopy Cold Therapy System, the benefits of having a device that circulates ice cold water around the entire surgical sight, for as long as I want, without any need to stop and rotate because my ice has melted were obvious! I have used this system, daily, for over a month now and couldn't be happier with my decision. A few things I have learned along the way are 1) the "quick-connect" attachment can be disconnected from the system during use, and only a drop or two of water comes out. This is useful should you need to get up for any reason during your session because it enables you to leave the pad attached to your body, but frees you from the machine and hose without spilling any water or having the need to prime the system afterward. You can then easily reconnect and continue your session. 2) I keep 14 of the standard 16.9 fl oz bottles of water frozen to use in the system to save on ice. You will use A LOT of ice otherwise. This system basically consists of a medium size ice chest/cooler that has been fitted with a small pump (similar to what you would use in an at-home aquarium or landscape fountain) that flows water through a hose and into the pad (that is attached to you with the included compression straps), which has small channels throughout that the cold water circulates through (think of a radiator). If only ice and water are used, a person can expect to go through around 2 bags of ice per day, if using the system 3 times daily. The frozen bottles of water replace a majority of the ice and can be refrozen as many times as needed. The instruction books say 4-6 but I found 7 to be the sweet spot. 7 bottles fit without any problem and allow me to use only a small amount of actual ice around them. This also maintains enough water in the system for the pump to run continuously without creating a vacuum. By switching to this method, I use only about a gallon-size bag of ice a day (which my ice-maker can easily handle) and the water in the system stays cold much longer. Most of the time, I only have to rotate the frozen bottles between sessions because the ice chest part of the system works extremely well at keeping the ice frozen and water cold. 3) The 3 included elastic compression straps work well holding the pad in place, even if you have to disconnect briefly, allowing you to keep the pad on and in position even while untethered from from the system. However, I sometimes will over-tighten the straps when putting the pad on. If you do this, it will not allow the water to flow properly into the pad. Just turn off the system and loosen the straps a little and that should solve the water flow issue. 4) The pump included with this system is whisper-quiet. This is a GREAT thing but, at first, made it hard to know if it was on or not. Just trust the lights on the remote control, and wait a few seconds for it to push water into the pad. Again, having used this machine multiple times a day for over a month, I have to say I am EXTREMELY satisfied with my purchase. I definitely saved money over buying several ice packs and ended up with a much better product that fit my needs perfectly. I will say I questioned the durability of this system when I first unboxed it. Even though all of the parts looked to be of decent quality, I assumed at some point I would get a leak and end up wet, because of the simplicity of the system. The quick-connects are plastic and I thought (incorrectly), wouldn't hold up with the amount of time I was expecting to ice. I also had concerns that the handle might rip off the ice chest due to the weight once filled with 7 frozen water bottles, ice, and water. BUT....I'm happy to say so far every part of this system is holding strong and working just as it should. I have logged MANY hours with this machine now and will say that I am totally satisfied and would HIGHLY recommend anyone having a hip or knee replacement, or anything that is going to require a lot of icing, purchase this system. I want to add that I wasn't given this product, I legitimately purchased this and I am a real person. I rarely do reviews so I apologize if I rambled, but I was very impressed with the Kinryopy Cold Therapy System and believe it is worth every dollar. It works better, stays cold longer, and helped reduce pain and swelling much better than your stand ice packs. If you're having a joint replacement, I highly recommend this system, you won't regret it. Read more

Outstanding performance at a great price

Excellent product. Easy to set up and use. I used it after shoulder surgery. The over shoulder strap is easy to secures with a large Velcro pad. Expands to fit even an xtra large chest . Quickly cools. For ice source I put in (2) 2 liter plastic soda bottles of frozen water and about 1 gallon of water and provides hours of soothing cold therapy. Works as good if not better than ice therapy machines costing twice as much. The support staff is outstanding. Read more

Great Unit for the Price

Aardvark BooksFebruary 25, 2026✓ Verified purchase

We bought this machine for recuperation after knee surgery. The first unit we received wasn't functioning correctly - so there was some frustration there, because the ice pad wasn't getting cold, but we weren't sure whether the fault was ours or not and lost a full two days trying to troubleshoot on our own. However, once we reached out to customer service, we got a speedy response at the email address they provided. They shipped a new unit out next day air - and it's working perfectly. We're enjoying the design and the large capacity of the unit - it's stays cold on medium flow for a full 24 hours. We also enjoy its straightforward programmer and the ease of portability. For the price - this is a great product. (Four stars instead of 5 reflect the fact that the first unit was malfunctioning.) Read more

2nd time’s the charm!

Anne Melang-ThorenJune 21, 2025✓ Verified purchase

So, after buying 2 (yes, 2) of these machines, I think I can maybe shed some light on both the very good and not-so-good reviews. The 1st machine I bought, I was sooo disappointed with. The “high” setting didn’t work and it had a terrible leak and I was not a happy camper at only 8-10 days post-op for a knee replacement surgery. I was nervous to even buy another after that experience, but with the good reviews, I decided to give it one more try. The 2nd machine works perfectly! It’s actually colder than the one they gave me in the hospital (which broke down within days of my surgery). In the end, I was able to return the 1st machine for a full refund, and now I have a great machine, that’s been doing a ton of heavy lifting for the last 4 weeks. Still going strong. Hope this review is helpful. It seems to me that there are a few “lemons” out there, but there are great products too. Thankfully there’s a return policy and at least in my case, the 2nd machine works perfectly! To all that need cold therapy; heal up soon!😀 Okay. Quick update as of Nov. of 2025, approx 6 months after my knee replacement surgery. 2 days ago I was hit in my car by an 18 year old running a red light while texting. She plowed into my driver’s side and smashed me into a traffic light pole in my passenger’s side. She broke one of my ribs, a vertebrae and re-injured my knee. It sounds bad, because it was bad, but somehow I walked away from my car to the ambulance gurney. I was taken to the ER and after many tests, released. I wish I didn’t need my cold therapy machine again but I do. However…. My machine is still going strong! It’s helping to control my knee swelling as I use ice packs everywhere my seatbelt bruised me and on that broken rib. The machine still works! It does its job! I never wanted to be in this accident, but since I was, I’m really grateful I had this machine to come home from the ER to. Still works like a charm! Read more
