The machine is pretty. It was delivered in a crate. The delivery company scheduled a time to deliver and said they’d call me 20 minutes before (between 10 am and 2 pm). They said they needed me to sign. I left the house to run an errand 5 minutes away and when I got back, the crate was by the front door. No phone call. It’s 137 lbs, about 1.5’ x 1.5 x 2.5’. My husband and I used moving shoulder straps and it was simple to unpack and move inside. The instructions are lacking. Note: minimum volume is 10 cups of ice cream base, I discovered, maximum 16 cups per load. You can see it between 10-35 minutes, or maybe just hit “auto” because you don’t know how long it will take without experimenting with volume. The machine will accept ice cream base cooled to 104F. There are no instructions about cleaning. I imagine you just pour water in and let it cycle. I just removed the front panel and dasher to get all my ice cream out because I hit “stop” when it was done instead of going for the randomly set time of 20 minutes. By hitting stop, I wasn’t given the opportunity for the ice cream to be pushed out properly. I ended up just cleaning everything by hand. It has a powerful dasher and cooler. The ice cream will be done faster than you expect. I cannot imagine what would take 35 minutes. The machine comes ready to go, just wash the parts that contact food. It comes with extra parts. Hope this is helpful - it is what I would have wanted to know in advance. I may go to 4 or 5 stars as time goes on. The media could not be loaded. This isn’t for the ‘yea, I might want to try making some ice cream or gelato’ house. This is for the home (or business) that is tired of small batch process, needing to freeze components to make a tiny batch at a time, and is serious about the craft. I’ve made about 40 quarts of gelato and ice cream so far in this AnyDoor machine, and I’ll never go back to some ‘Fisher-Price’ toy again. Now, it’s on to perfecting recipes, serving/storage temps, and seeing how far to go on ingredients. Gone are the days of buying junk ice cream (if they’re even allowed to call it ice cream), from the supermarket, or spending a small fortune on the local artisanal gelato shop. The machine is super easy to use, take samples from, watching the churn process, determining over-run you want, and the machine even pre-cools your base if needed. It’s not something you’ll keep on your kitchen counter, it’s huge, weighs over 120lbs, but it’s a beaut. Stainless, easy to clean, and after experimenting once, you’ll be fine and won’t soak yourself. If you want next-level, this is your equipment. I’m only a month in, and I hope the compressor and machinery are built to last a few years. Read more
