I read all the reviews on this product and must enthusiastically agree. This is an “old school” 1970’s hair dryer. Unlike modern style dryers, this dryer has a side-intake motor that is twice the size of current “flow thru” rear intake models. The fan is twice the size and power of modern style professional dryers. This dryer gets HOT on the highest setting, so you will certainly need to make sure you don't get it too close to your scalp in HIGH. Its no big deal. The fan blows HARD and the temp gets HOT if you want it to. Bottom line is this dryer dries your hair faster and more complete than any “professional” dryer you will find on Amazon. Five Stars! UPDATE SEPT 9th 2020: I still haven't received my replacement dryer from Conair. I called to check on the status; they told me they haven't even placed the order for the replacement yet and can't tell me why. They stated that they will have to look into it and call me back in a few days. WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THIS?!?! I truly wish Amazon would allow for a zero-star review. UPDATE JULY 2nd, 2020: So during my third use of the dryer to blow out my daughter's hair the dryer just shut off. And never came back on. By now it's outside of the return window so I can't send it back to Amazon so I call Conair. Conair says that before they could process my return I have to cut the electrical cord to the dryer & send them a picture of the cord & dryer detached. I assume I had to do this so that Conair can prevent return frauds. Hmmmm so this is what you think of your customers. Then, after they receive the picture I have to wait 30 BUSINESS days to receive a new one. That's six weeks! How am I supposed to dry my hair in the meantime? I then asked to be refunded so that I could purchase a new dryer. That request was denied. This is apparently what Conair thinks is suitable customer service. I WILL NEVER BE PURCHASING ANY CONAIR PRODUCTS IN THE FUTURE. Original review: I owned the Yellowbird previously and had to have had that dryer for 12-13 years for my personal use before it stopped working a few weeks ago. I bought this Blackbird thinking it would be the same but disappointingly it is not. It dries my hair just fine but the heat level is not the same so my 4C hair doesn't get as straight. With the Yellowbird I could blow my hair straight without having to flat iron it after. I won't be able to get away with that with the Blackbird. I am now looking for another dryer and all suggestions are welcomed. Read more
