Works really well for making a nice shot of espresso and it is so nice for camping because you don't need to go through brewing an entire pot of coffee and there's so much less to clean up after you're done using it in comparison. You love coffee, you wouldn't be here if you didn't. This portable espresso maker may fit a niche need that meets that passions jones. What I like. *It works. Pulls a nice (small) shot. You can use both the "ready to use" available commercial pods, or you can grind your own beans (12g) and brew at will with the included optional portafilter with the grip on the lid functioning as an optional tamper. *You can use preheated water and get a lot of uses from a single charge of the battery or if circumstances require it, brew your fuel from cold water 4-5 times. (Heating elements drain batteries heavily). *Comes with a travel pouch and charging cord. *It is easy to clean because the portafilters separate from the whole and rinse quickly and easily. *It is portable and will fill a need where you won't find an espresso machine at hand and ready to go if you have coffee on the mind. *It comes with an attached cup that you can use and so is a complete system (sans pods and dosing funnel if needed). Opportunities * The available commercial pods work but I find them to be weak, at least the few I have tried. I would much prefer to grind and measure my own beans to pull a shot. * That being said, you really need a dosing funnel that fits the optional smaller sized portafilter that it comes with. It does not come with one and that makes the process more challenging than it should be and is therefore currently prohibitive. There is a dosing funnel and custom tamper available on the website and I have ordered them, but they have not arrived. I am not sure if they were in production when I ordered and I am waiting. Nor do I think they will fit in the included pouch when they do arrive so may need to travel separately. *It is heavy (2lbs) and anything this tall will topple. It has toppled. If you love coffee and want to be able to pull a shot while camping, picnicking, or at the beach (which we just did both and enjoyed our coffee in the great outdoors) this will fit that need. A hot espresso shot on demand. That's nice. If you are looking at the pictures of hikers having coffee on the trail or the summit, don't buy into the delusion. There is no serious backpacker that will add 2 lbs. of weight to their pack for a shot of espresso when they may already be carrying lighter more flexible equipment that can brew a whole cup of coffee. Be honest with your needs, and desires and if this will meet any of them and the price is not prohibitive, it works great and will satisfy that niche desire to be able to pull a hot shot anytime, anywhere. Took this thing on a road trip to Louisville with the family and it worked great. Super easy to use. I also brought it on a camping trip with a Boy Scout troop and every parent there was jealous. It makes coffee fast and clean. I have only used the pods so far, not ground espresso, and I have not had any issues. The temperature is perfect. The machine heats water right around 195 to 200 degrees and the coffee comes out hot but still drinkable. The flavor is great and it holds temp well. For a portable setup, this really nails it. Now the downside. The way it dispenses coffee is not ideal. It starts pouring as soon as the water heats up. There is no button to trigger the pour manually. If you do not have a cup in place and ready, it will overflow. I wish it would heat, beep to alert you, and wait until you press a button to dispense. Also, the instructions are not great. You kind of have to figure it out on your own the first time. It is a bit pricey, but if you are okay with the cost, it is fantastic. It is built well, heats fast, and makes great espresso on the go. Cool device, made great espresso from a capsule - - surprised by the perfect temperature. Clear instructions, and easy to use after the first couple of tries. Can be a little confusing, and seems a bit complicated, but only at first. Easy to clean up with a “cold brew” water flush (of course remove the capsule first). May not be portable enough for some purposes, especially hiking - - weighs about 3 pounds and takes up some space. But it’ll get a lot of use just for espresso at home. Read more

I like that its really easy to use, you just pop the pod in the bottom, pour some water in the top hit a button and that's it. This one come with a cup that the expresso gets dispensed into, which makes it and all in one solution. I like that it comes with its own sleave, its easy to clean and light to carry when camping. Larger than expected, simple to use, good espresso: This product was just a bit larger than I'd expected, and while it's a great camping companion it may be a bit much to bring on a hike, depending on how light you need to pack and how far you're going. The product has been pretty simple to operate, and the video instructions in the product description make it intuitive to operate the device with minimal extra instruction needed. The espresso quality has been surprisingly good and I'm very happy with the taste and consistency when using. The product is pretty simple to clean too and doesn't leak when properly closed. In the videos, the unit sits on a stand while the coffee drips. Unfortunately, the stand is not part of the box, it's sold separately for $40. But, at least you can rest the machine on the included bottom cap/cup and let it drip. Just wish we could let it drip into our own cups without having to buy additional accessories. The machine itself has some weight, light enough to bring for camping, but probably not for hiking or backpacking. Read more
