Great for thanksgiving dinner
I bought this to keep mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese and mashed cauliflower warm and it worked VERY well. First: the day before using it for the first time, you REALLY want to run the burners (without ceramic bowls) on high for about an hour. The off gassing is STRONG and I personally would not want that smell (and toxic fumes) submersed in my food (and in the area for my family to smell). Next: on the day of use, I turned the warmer onto low, put in the ceramic bowls (with lids on) and let it preheat while I cooked food. You want to do this for about 30 minutes. It begins to heat instantly. Once the food went in, I turned it down to “warm” after about 15 minutes. I waited because every time the lid is removed, heat escapes. I wanted it to sit at a low/medium temp. For the mashed potatoes and cauliflower, I did put a little bit of butter before adding the food. But honestly, nothing sticks and I don’t think it’s necessary. The food was in there for a couple of hours and did not dry out. Next: the cord & plug. This has a very short plug. You’ll need a grounded extension cord if you are not putting it within 3 feet of an outlet. So plan on that. I personally didn’t want it under my kitchen cabinets, as it emanates a lot of heat. I kept it at the end of my kitchen island. Cleaning: it is VERY easy to clean and nothing stuck to it. Mfr suggests hand cleaning. I did dish wash the bowls and lids with no problems. But hand cleaning would be very easy. I dishwash simply because it was quite oily from the butter. Finally, the biggest “problem” is storage. Where do I put this giant thing?! lol. That’s not a problem with the product. It’s my high class problem 😂 Overall I’m very happy with the purchase and it’s extremely helpful for large dinners. Read more
