I needed some socks for hiking (short distances, 3 miles or less at a time) and these felt great! I really like them. They are well made and the thickness is very nice. I like a little bit of thickness or weight as sometimes the thinner, lighter weight socks just don't seem to work as well in the hiking shoes on my feet than a sock that is a little thicker. The colors are fun. The sock fits "comfortably snug" but certainly not tight. After my hike I kept them on for a while as they were so comfortable and felt so good on my feet that I didn't want to take them off. They are a bit pricey but compared to some other socks I've worn, I think they were worth the price tag. I hope they hold up in the wash. We'll see how they do after several wears and washes. I absolutely love these socks! Darn Tough makes the best socks and they really do last a long time! These socks are light yet still cushioned right where you need it. They also keep my feet nice and cool so they don't get sweaty. I love wearing them with my boots since they go up the perfect height on my ankle to keep me comfortable all day long. I love the color options too! They are all so cute. I can't say enough good stuff about these socks, you will love them too! Oh and the sizing is pretty spot on as I wear a size 9 shoe and the medium size socks (W 7.5 - 9.5) fit me perfectly (a light snug, but then they don't slide or move around on your feet at all!) THESE ARE THE BEST SOCKS I HAVE EVER WORN! I used them while working 12 hour shifts on a ranch this summer, and they kept my feet comfortable all day long! I have notoriously sweaty and smelly feet, and they locked in the moisture, didn't smell, and even kept my boots from smelling all summer! The cushioning is wonderful and made them the most comfortable socks ever. My feet were never cold and were usually more towards the warm side, but they did not make my feet feel hot, even while wearing boots in the hot summer. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Read more

Edit: I got the new replacement sock immediately and they are the right size and color. The size small fits well on my 6.5 foot. They are thinner on the ankle to be cooler, but still good and think on the foot for comfortability. Can't wait to take them on our mid-west adventure in a couple weeks! Original: The exterior packing lists the size and color that I ordered, but the actual item is a size bigger and the wrong color. Sent for replacement - mostly just hoping this review will alert the correct party to the packaging error. Darn tough socks are the way to go always. Last forever and the warranty is great. Only socks I wear. I never have clammy feet in them a problem I have with all other socks. Read more

These are really nice socks, and i wouldn't discourage anyone from giving them a try, although $20 is a bit pricey for a SINGLE pair of socks. For Hiking they fit really well and didn't cause me any (additional) discomfort. However as a design element that i personally find annoying is the ridiculous "Grip-Ribs" between heel and toes. it doesn't feel natural and is not 100% comfortable for me. i understand they were trying to keep it form fitting, but that design just touches my foot in a way in which i am not accustomed. i would buy other socks from this company for certain, as long as they do not have that design flaw.
